Just another wedding..

Just wondering if any guppies reside in Bucks. Well at the weekend I was at a family friends wedding in Maidenhead. There must have been about 700 guests. The Bride and groom looked very elegant in their dress wear, they were seated on the main stage of a huge hall which had been specially decorated for the occasion. One thing I noticed was that almost half of the female guests wore head scarfs, others wore dupattas which werent even on the shoulders but were draped around their arms. I think there seems to be two opposing trends within Pakistani fashion, some people are trying to implement Islamic values within their lives whereas others are more influenced by the fashions of Bollywood. At the wedding it seemed to be like a competetion for some of them to try and outclass each other in looks.. hehe but I suppose all weddings are like that.

My mum was fortunate to meet some of her childhood friends at the wedding, some of them were our neighbours from our ancestral village in Pakistan. It was quite an emotional meeting for mum, as there was an elderly lady in her eighties who was one of the last surviving members of the first generation within the village, what was remarkable was that she recognised my mum after 38 years and was fully able to recount about my nanny who had passed away when my mum was very young. For me it was like seeing my nanny for the first time. :- ) There was also a live Bhangra band with their drums and nope I didn’t do a bhangra dance..hehe and live classical indian music which was very calming. .. oh well another wedding over, had a great time, theres a friends wedding coming up in a few weeks, looking forward to it.

just wondering, cause Maidenhead is in Berkshire or Berks and Bucks is used for buckinghamshire county isnt it?

well I have worked for sometime in Maidenhead and also in Reading, I live quite near Bucks county, in Pinner, Middlesex.

well about weddings I dont attend many here, cause I dont have much friends or family circle here.:(

I have observed the same trends, there are two groups appearing now one more islamic and other one more towards bollywoods. there is very few who are towards Pakistani culture.

yaar, maidenhead is in Berkshire as far I am aware, but I was asking about Bucks as I have family freinds in High Wycombe and slough.. many of them attended the wedding, what I wanted to know was if there are any guppies who live there.

So how long did you work in Maidenhead if you dont mind my asking, did you work in the IT sectors or elsewhere? Btw, Pinner is a great place to live, a relative of mine moved there recently from South London solely because of the better education facilities that were available for his family.
