It started with the dutch version of Sinter Klaas (more like St. Nicholas). Dutch settlers took it there in US and Washington Irving/irvine (dont know his surname exactly) was the first person who actually used the term Santa Claus. Actually St. A Cluas.

This is what I have read or still in my mind, ur version might be different.

No I am not really interested in ur pic, even if I am correct.

The modern image of Santa claus was put together late 19th century / early 20th century american magazine artists.

Contrary to the popular urban legend, it was NOT Coca-Cola who invented Santa Claus.

yea, i dont agree with the website.... u shouldn't believe everythin u read.

I actually read in a lot of magazines and books that Coke invented Santa Clause.

I guess i have to do more research on it.

I think it was Thomas Nast, am illustrator who made the first image of the present idea of Santa.
