Do you guys think mavlana Rumi was a religious scholar ? or as a philosopher like Kant, dechartes or Hegel… These are great philosopher writters but it does,nt make them religious scholar, they don’t have anything to do with islam..
It's not fitting to speak ill of the dead. What benefit does it now bring to ask if he was a scholar or not? What change to people's lives will it affect?

I dont take him as a religious scholar, but I consider him a philosopher.
moulana rumi s a religous scholar as well......tudent of shams tabrez......
but he was more of a sufi philosipher .........
usually expressing himself in poetry .... like dewan shams tabreze..... musnavi room.... both r excellent books...
a mystic poet....
and u know the sufi trend, they move to shirk so easy....
i regard him just as a poet and a philosopher....
many have criticized his 'unIslamic' poetry....
umm imho he was a sufi not a religious scholar
thanks, looking forward for ur answers.

Teachings Of Rumi
The Masnavi: Abridged And Translated By E.H Whinfield
With An Introduction By Idrees Shah.
His great work, The Masnavi was 43 years in the writing. During the past seven hundred years, this book called by Iranians ‘The Koran in Persian’, a tribute paid to no other book, has occupied a central place
in Sufism.
He makes plain to the Pilgrim the secrets of the Way Of Unity, and unveils the Mysteries of Path of Eternal
Truth.
Dr.Samuel Johnson
I think Rumi is an Ethicist(Philosopher). He tried to make his work acceptable to all religions.
His poetries are combination of Koran,Hadith,Islamic history and Bible and ancient Greek Philosophy.
He is not a scholar of Islam.
All I know is he was a poet!
& i think a nice one!
