Well i was just wondering why do we people have started to forget our true Culture?
By ture Culture i mean today’s generation is in some kind of Hip hop situaiton.They want to party want to like west..sometimes i looks at boys wearing all the Rappers Influened clothes Shalwar sort of jeans with XXL t-shirts written Oxford or NY..Wearning gold Chains and stuff..girls wearing short tops..
I start to think what ? what is this? I am not a anti-west.but still why we have forgotten our culture? today you talk to a boy about Poetry? they dont have a clue abt it..they think this is all bull****..they know nothing about the rich culture..once i asked a boy he must be 24.Have you ever seen pakistan? he was like i have seen all pakistan..i asked well..like pakistan what i pakistan..
I have seen Murree,Naran ,Khaghan..and stuff all he came was mountains..but pakistan is not just mountains..its more beautiful than that..SIndh has a very unique beauty of Rajistan desert..Bauchi culure is different..like you have to see each and every province each has a different culture..thesedays there is a new trend of young generation which read Bullye shah..But it remains only to bully shah..or Heer by waris shah.They only read or do stuff thats shown on through media thats it they are limited.if you ever read these sufi’s in depth..you get to know what they are saying..its not that you listen to Rabbi shergill 's Bulla ki janna main kaun..and get a book.and just read that Poem.YOu have to grasp the what they have written you need to understand them..and when you get it..you will never loose your culture atleast..All the poetry written by these sufi’s or scholars..are inspired by the time in which they were ..They have captured that time..through their poety or throgh books..I hope one day we will get our true identity..I might have gone off topic..what just thought of writting it..
Xues the world is full of many types of people. Everyone wants something new, something cool and might end up looking down on what they view as 'traditional' or 'old-fashioned'. Just know that enriching your mind and your life with culture, poetry, literature and religion are excellent things. I'm glad there's people like you and you're not alone. Just know that it's a wide world and live and let live. (How many cliches can I cram in here?)
It annoys me when people in their own lands don't know their culture and when they try acting western because it's wannabe and they don't do a right good job of it, they just make a laughing stock out of themselves (like the Burger people in Khi, Isb, Lhr...) but when kids born and bred in the west do it they are doing the right thing because South Asian culture is irrelevant in these countries and it's a very stagnant mentality holding onto these things if you're never going to go back home to settle down...
well i dont there that its a bad thing to Westernize..but one should know abt it culture and social values too? one thing i dnt like abt today is tat women are always trying to be the typical Gora..! :) putting all the creams and stuff ..they have forgotten that women of this land were always Sanwaliie!! Magar kya karain..i cant even change my self...wat can i say abt others..its just a lame thought! :(
Saanwli/brown skin is soooo HOTTT and Namkeen, I don't know why South Asian women want to be lighter skinned... Brown women are sooo warm and mystical looking..
Healthy skin regardless of color/tone is beautiful, you get beautiful/ugly women in evry race...
I guess it is the inferiority complex we inherited from our gora masters. It is very common and visible in our culture. There are a few who genuinely do it because they want to feel different but a lot has to do with the thought that we think we are not good enough.
its not a crime to be putting on face creams to change your skin color. its a preference to have a certain skin color just like goras want a tan and go to tanning beds. the gray-whitish skin that results due to whitening creams however is just as lame as the alligator skin that goras end up with after hours of tanning.
although I adoreeeee lotsa things about our culture, there are also many things wrong with it and I dont see anything wrong with imitating other cultures in this case.
and it is not "todays" women imitating goras....if u check out old hollywood movies, old hindi movies you will see how the actors imitate the old hollywood glamour....the pouffy hair, the men in skinny suits, the men with the side parted gay hair lol, the dances etc. and as a result paki heroines/heroes copying the same. media media media......
xeus - keeping one's culture alive doesnt mean listening to original old pakistani songs or reading bullay shah or waris.
I think culture is when a girl who grew up here in usa and knows not to watch TV with her parents. when a girl wears dupata in front of her father or brother, When girl has that same sharam-o-haya as the girl in pakistan, when a teenage boy knows to get up from sofa when his father walks in, when a teenage boy knows not to let his friends come in front of his sisters, when girl gets lessons of cooking and cleaning so when she goes to other house she can take care of her family, when mother can't fall asleep cause her son or daughter is few mintues late, culture is when a boy cleans after his father who is suffering from major strokes, culture is when a 30 yr old girl still takes of her mom's shoes out of respect. when kids know not to speak in front of adults.
I strongly feel our culture has so much to offer that many other cultures dont. Reading bullay shah and understanding waris doesnt mean understanding of culture it simply means one has good knoweldge of Urdu.
Pakistan mein yeh sab chezein logo ko virasat mein milti hain. I think kids who grow up here have the real challenge to keep it alive. They truly understand the real meaning of it.
I never lived in pakistan and i think i can speak urdu pretty well :~).
Most of these other lot seem to have a very shallow concept of culture, must be urban background people, they’re more concerned with unimportant things like so called arts..
