Just 3 "cities"...

For the size and population of the size of Pakistan don’t you think we have far and few “cities”. Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad are the true alive and vibrant cities. Some dont even consider Islamabad as alive and vibrant as the other two. There are other cities but are lagging far behind. Keeping in view educational, health, financial, recreational facilities infrastructure and life style, culture, diversity and pace of life that is associated with city life most of the other cities are way behind. Some lack the culture of a city. Gives you an impression of an obese village. What do you think? I have not traveled much but this is the feeling I got. Multan, Fasilabad, Hayderabad, Peshwar and other cities how would you rate them in comparison with the Lahore Karachi and Islamabad. I have not been there so how is the development in comparison with the big three. On my last visit I went to Sialkot, Jehlum, Gujranwala and none seem to be of any comparison with Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi

Paindoo…why don’t you define Development first, and then have a discussion.

You have the Pakistan District League tables, till the 1970's Peshawar was second to karachi in socio economic indicators. Quetta also performed well development wise, what changed was two Afghan wars and also pakistans centralised government which focuses on federal capital and with all the violence in karachi, and a very Lahore centric PM in Nawaz Sharif, Lahore finally shot up..

Development in all aspects. From basic infrastructure to institutions. Institutions of higher education, financial institutions, recreational facilities, public libraries. There are very few educational, financial and health institutions that are out side Karachi, Lahore & Islamabad. When I say development, I mean in terms of these institutions comparable to those of Karachi Lahore and Islamabad. Plus the cultural diversity, culture and the life associated with cities.

Even in terms of business these cities are depended upon very heavily. Government institutions seem to be centered the 3 main cities.

Are you trying to say that Islamabad is not a vibrant city? With a mix of cultures and lifestyles?

Is that why its the 24th best place to live in the whole of asia, while Karachi is Ranked 34th.

there is hell of difference in best place to live and being a vibrant city. the fact while islamabad is very nice, clean green city, it actually lacks a unique culture and history. and both Karachi and Lahore beats this.

I agree with Paindu, the reason other city left out behind because we have culture or developing the developed and not developing the under developed!

more and more icentives should be offered to investors and businesses to encourage them to set offices in other cities than these major ones.

but you also under estimated Quetta, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Failsalabad, Hyderabad, Sakhar.

they are not far behind just need bit more attention of government.
