You know, I DO have a sense of my civic duty and all that, I mean its VERY important to me who goes behind bars etc....just Friday, a note was sent with my first grader that there was a man in a van prowling the area around the school trying to lure a kid into his van. This even more cements my ideas about parenthood...my children are young and I need to be there for them.
I could try to convince my doc to write some sort of note but excusal is due to psychological illness or inability to sit and listen....thats not something that I'd like to have documented esp when its not the case. I just want to be here for my boyz.
there are very funny and amusing replies (thx! they made me smile!) but I'm still totally stressed over the whole dam thang.

i guess during selection, I could always tell them "he is very obviously GUILTY. So lets assume that and we can ALL GO HOME.
That would prob get me off the hook lol!

Just show up and explain your reason for not wanting to uphold your civic duty. There's no need to create excuses, forge documents or plain lie.
Your kids wont die without you. Your husband wont leave you either. And quit thinking about those trials you see on tv - you wont be stuck in court for months on end. In the end you'll get over it and come out feeling a little better about yourself. Heck, you'll learn your life doesnt have to revolve around four finicky men.

From my understanding if you are a SAHM you can get exused from jury duty until your youngest is 10.

Jury duty is nothing but an extension of our obligations to our family. It helps civilians decide, who should be on streets and who should be behind the bars. That keeps our children and families live in a safer society
Then what about the other civil duties? All of them are in one way or other meant for a safer society. But if a mother of small kids can be excused from those, why not from this jury thing?
