Junoon's new album

Assalaam Alikum

Just wondering if anyone has listened to Junoon’s new album. Well, not new exactly. New for me. I think it’s called aazadi, with the song “khodi ko kar buland itna”. I like the music, but isn’t it plagarism that someone copies someone elses work? I mean, isn’t this song a representation of copyright infringment?

oye mundya,
did u get the message in the song?
if u did then thats all what the poor guys 've tried to do.
and for sure the trio is the best in town
and since i happen to know all of them personally ,i can assure u that the idea of the song is to convey the meaning melodiously and nothing over it.
Iqbal kee shan may gustakhi nahin kee!

Iqbal! koi mahram apna nahin jahan ein
maloom kya kisee ko dard e nahan humara.

Whose work did Junoon copy? Is the album in music CD form or cassette form?

Well, Maharaja, answer the question. Did they, or did they not break the copy-right laws.
well, Salman, (hope you're not the group's guaitar player and are not offended by this) ;), they have a song in theat album "Khodi ko kar buland itna ke har taqdeer se pehle, Khuda bande se khud pooche bataa tere raza kya hai", a very famous poem by Allama Iqbal. Personal, I think the've done a great job, but I was only wondering if this indeed is a copy-right infringment. The album is available on both, CD and cassette. And Maharaja, did not mean to offend anyone. Like I said, just wondreing if the copy-right laws apply in this case or not.
later!

I liked the album Aazadi by Junoon. I love the songs Yar Bina and Soyonnee. They are nice songs, other songs are ok.

Here in Pakistan Azaadi ( Junoon's new album) is one the biggest selling ever they have been touring the entire country i recently went to one of their concerts in Al hamra Open air stadium Lahore . And man it was great the fans including me were all junooninies and we had a great time

Big B

the story is incomplete BigB

tell 'em about the coke and pepsi bottles that u guyz threw at them ;)
and yes the avalanche of Gallia(n)that were hurled at them before ,during ,and after the show..........('cuz the poor guyz had performed in india a month or so ago)
hehe!
what a show that was!

According to American copyright law, anything over 50 years old is public property (unless the copyright is renewed.)
Do copyrights even exist in Pakistan?!
I'm sorry, but I think they "satya-nas" karred some really great shairy of Iqbal's. I know I'm gonna get lynched for disliking Junoon, but I think their lyrics are seriously lacking in talent. And when they do get lyrics from another source, as in the above song, they "ratta laga" the same 4 lines over and over and over and over....
Salman Ahmad, you left Vital Signs for THIS???

I didnt want to indulge in this sort of debate at first, but now I think I should clarify that it was the best way that junoon could have conveyed the message of a great poet!
rahi baat copy rights .....I'm afraid I dont have a clue as to what American Law says, but anyway no copyrights existed at the time when these were first said by Iqbal!
and very few ,if any, exist even now in Pak.

Why do you think they kinda Satya nas the whole shairee!
I dont think so;they changed it a wee bit but it contained the same elements that were present in the original stuff.
I strongly believe that they did a good job bringing forth some really meaningful lyrics to the general public, and again with great vocals and music!
thanks to Salman ;)

Iqbal's shairy set to a bhangra beat????!
Hark! Methinks I hear him rolling over in his grave

If Iqbals shairee can be used in ghazals, raags,
taraney and similar difficult stuff......then why not Rock!

hehe.....your idea about the grave thingy is pretty funny but kya karain "lab pay aati hai dua "
sun sun kar bhi to bore ho gaye hain na!
finally we have something new. :)

MARD-E-PAKISTAN nein farmaya...
