hello everybody! my weddings fixed for June 2010 inshAllah.. and its gonna be in lahore..
as of now.. ive done some shopping from here (dubai) and will be travelling to LHR sometime in March. venues are finalised (Qasrenoor & PC).
want to know what designers are in these days and the make up artists… i loved madiha’s work for my cousins marriage(2007) even though she spoilt my sisters face on her wedding (2003)..
but i would like Madiha for Valima… and for the barat im confused… athar/shehzad or allenora??
barat outfit will be deep red.. havent decided about valima..
any places i must visit in dubai for shopping? or in lahore?
since your barat dress is deep red, I suggest you go with allenora. Their typical bridal makeup look (although repititive) goes great with deep red colours. I know because my sis got married in sep 2009 and she got ready from allenora she wore a deep red dress and the makeup looked great on her but i saw another bride a week later with the same makeup look which did not suit her at all .. maybe because her dress colour was more pinky red than deep red.. also, they had put on too much bronzer on her cheek bones. And another thing that was different on that bride (from my sister's makeup) was that she was wearing a peachy pink lipstick!!! That did not look good at all... allenora tried to match her lipstick to her blouse colour but the rest of the lehenga was more red, so the bride didn't look as pretty as she is in reality.
Anyways... allenora is also cheaper than ather shehzad. It cost my sis 16000 to get it done from an assistant but the makeup was perfect so dont worry about HAVING to get it done from the owner herself. Ather shezad is flying away in the sky these days.. he needs to come back to the earth and be realistic with his prices!
Also, don't expect these people to be giving you the respect that you deserve as a customer! 90% of the Photographers or designers or makeup artists or hall owners etc etc in pakistan lack professionalism so be ready to deal with some crap from people while organising your wedding..

Oh, by the way... do check out ANCIENT bazaars in lahore.. lol.. I mean to say places like icchra. My sis got her dress from icchra for 35000 and it was gorgeous! And guess what... the shopkeeper dropped the price from 75000.. lol some bargain han! Always try to bargain they will always tell u an invalid price.. and NEVER tell them ur from abroad! They'll rip u off like crazy!
hey thanks for the detail on alle nora :) yeah i want a red lipstick and ive heard that allenora does it best... ather shehzad make up most of the times is really dark.. and somewhat not my type ..it might look good on darker skin tones.. im fair...

Yeah, only red lipstick suits the bride traditonally, unless she's wearing another colour dress.
Allenora did do a good job at my sister. But as I said, their attitude was unbelieveable! But I guess its going to be the same no matter who you go to!
My sister didn't get anything made from a designer and yet EVERYONE loved her lehenga and her waleema dress. Even one of our anties who NEVER praises anyone (lol) actually said this was the first bridal lehenga that she liked!!
So the point I'm trying to make is don't always think designers, go shopping in places like Icchra and if u don't find anything of your style there, only then go to a designer. One of my cousins got her dress from some shop in lahore for 95000! So its not like you're only going to find cheap things in bazaars. There is a lot of variety and a lot of luxury dresses out there in bazaars of lahore.

my inlaws have agreed on letting me pick the salon but i thought it would be easier n saver (saver in meaning of i know what to expect)...
are these salons not able to provide two different looks???
diff mke up artists i really dont know... ive heard madiha is really good for pastels.. so thats why valima.. she isnt famous for baraat make up.. alle nora bcuz i liked her work on red brides... plus a few relatives and friends told me not to choose the same make up artists for both days ... duno why though... but its mainly cuz of their work..
event manager.. well that i havent decided as yet, dont think there wud be any! honestly speaking.. qasrenoor have their own package isnt it?

From the US: well i have bought almost all of his stuff (ties, socks, perfume sets, shirts, shaving stuff, shoes, and the watch) just have to get his wedding suit and stuff that goes with it. Also since we dont know many stores in lahore...my mom and I have decided to take bedsheets, duvet sets and towels from here as well.
Other things mostly includes my stuff...makeup (even the stuff his family will be giving me) i bought over the Xmas, perfume sets from him to me, shoes (i dont like the matching shoes craze they have in pakistan...i like just the simple black, silver, and gold).
@the weight issue...well u will be shocked (another thing in common) when i tell u...that i m on a diet as well... :D i dont wanna be size zero but just look nice :)
@PC...were they able to provide a set price for you guys, because last i called them...they told me even if i pay the 50% deposit i wont be able to lock in the current price :O
hey rabia... do u mind telling me the details on shaving set, watch and make up.. etc.. im yet to start his stuff... done nothing yet!
and also what diet r u on these days? its really difficult for me to diet.. i diet like 2 days a week and have all chocs and ice cream the other days :|

rafia...the shaving stuff i was refering to is just the basic everyday stuff...deodorant, aftershave, beard trimmer, electric shaver and a set of mens lotions.
my mom wants to give him everything...even undergarments...i m still battling this one :D

Im getting my baraat outfit I've already ordered yet, My valima outfit is by my in laws...
Baraat is red/mgenta and Valima the said its blue and silver something like that..
I'm worried about make up, as I have chubby cheeks and you know how they tie your hair really tight for tika and jhommar, I look like a ball then!
and I am not fond of too much make up either
for my nikkah I had Bina Khan, she did an awesome job. I've noticed most salons do alotta make up, I can't stand that. I'm going to have to fight for less make up. I want to look like myself, I do not want to be contoured and made to look like a different person. I just want them to enhance my features, instead of faking them. lol
