Zia ,the chucker, competing with Shabbir? Well, I can only hope I dont have to see that day. Zia junior maybe the Imran Khan of First Class level but he sure as heck is nowhere near the international quality cricket. The guy got hammered by Bangladeshi tailenders for crying out loud. Does it get any worse than that? Shabbir on the other hand has been brilliant with his line and length. If he doesn't pick wickets, he atleast controls the runs with his superb line/length. I hope he plays for Pakistan for a long time. We need more good line/length bowlers like Shabbir, not chuckers like Zia Junior.

When was he regarded "chucker"? He is playing for Pakistan A, he has played for "Emerging Cricketers" series, U-19 series (I think) where he performed brilliantly, and that was after BD series. I think it was too early for him to be exposed at int'l at that time. But after that he apparently has improved a lot. I also criticized him when he was brought against BD and it was good that he was removed at least after 3 games.
But if a guy performs better after a bad performance he should be given some chance in future.
Junaid Zia performed badly against BD and was quite rightly dropped. Since then he has been performing well, even though I have not watched any of his performances after he was dropped. He should not only be judged on the basis of who his father is but more importantly on his performances. His father is no longer there and if he deserves to be recalled to the national team purely on merit, than why not?
He chucks. Haven’t you seen him bowl? He was called up for his action in South Africa too.
He performed well in the Emerging cricketers trophy, so we brought him into the national side. He bombed, so we dropped him. Now he again performs well at the first class level and we want to bring him back. Will we drop him if he flops? I see a pattern developing here.
Adduitionally, did he improve so drastically that he warrants a recall or is it just the quality of the first class he’s playing? I dont think he can improve so much in such a short time. Certainly not to the level of Shabbir. He fails to impress me. Simple. There are better bowlers than him waiting in the wings. Abdur rauf being one of them.

He performed in Emerging cricketers trophy AFTER being dropped from National side, not before.
Oh yes. Thanx for correcting me on that. I even watched the final of that trophy. How could i forget. The toss won us the final. Anyway, the point was that he must’ve been included in the team originally on some performance. He flopped and was dropped.
i dont think he was included in the national side based on any performance... dont you recall the massive "scandal" which took place after he was named to the squad? basically it was aamir sohail trying to get back on good terms with taquir zia... and theres no need to call him back to the national side right away just because he's performed well in a few tournaments... let him play first class for a while and in other tournaments so that he can mature and then give him another shot.. he has talent no doubt and he looks like a guy who needs a long period of time before he can play at the international level

this guy has been given a chance in the national team but unluckily has not succeeded in showing an impressive performance
Shabbir was also called for chucking. He went back and corrected his action.

and thats the difference between him and Junaid. Junee sahib insists to continue with his current action. I am sure he'll be called up again sooner than later.
edit: It appears that not only did Shabbir worked on his action but also on his line and length, which is superb now. Junee doesnt come close.

can anyone guess this player's name?

No, who is he?
CP, I didn't mean to say that Junaid Zia is a contender for national side right away. I see him emerging to compete for a place in coming future. A few more performances will.
