ISLAMABAD: Two members of Punjab Assembly tendered resignations for holding fake educational degrees, Geo News reported Thursday.

These members are Jamshed Dasti who is the chairman National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Sports and Nazeer Jutt of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q).

A six-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case filed against his certificate in religious education.

Fazed Jamshed could not answer the volley of questions by the judges. Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday sought him to tell names of Quranic paras, and surahs and mathematics table.

On one occasion, Dasti told the wrong names of the first two surahs of the Holy Quran. Also, he could not respond appropriately a query regarding the duration of his religious education certificate. On this, Justice Khilji Arif addressed him, ‘You brought disgrace to the entire house of National Assembly.’

Justice Tariq Pervez said, ‘You cannot contest the by-elections if the court delivers verdict against you.’

Before the verdict, when the court gave him time to resign, Dasti expressed his willingness for the same. Later on, he announced his resignation.

He was elected from NA-178, Muzaffargarh in 2008.

PML-Q’s Nazeer Jutt case was heard by the same bench.

Deputy Secretary Education told the court that Jutt failed his MA exam. On this, the court called him; however, he had handed the NA speaker his resignation yesterday.

He was elected from NA-167.

Nazeer said he resigned not because his degree was fake; instead, it is because he joined PML-N, adding he would participate in the by-elections from N-League.

And this is the guy who accused Younis Khan of match fixing at the ICC Champions Trophy. Shame on him. It's public now, the real cheater has been revealed.

He should apologize to the people of Pakistan and the cricket team especially Younis Khan and then sent to the jail. He is a disgrace.

I think…all Dasti’s allegations and recommendations should be reversed…

PS: There might be more like Dastis in all houses of legislation… :jhanda:

while I never believed Dasti's accuations... two points still stand:

  • Younis should still have behaved like a grownup instead of the 12 year old child that he is.
  • there is still nothing wrong with being summoned by the senate or parliament. these ppl are elected reps. in every democratic country, ppl are asked to explain things to elected reps. watch the US coverage of the financial crisis hearings or the auto hearings and you will realize what ridiculous really means. but nobody biatches about it. all bank CEOs, auto CEOs go and answer questions... it's just in Pakistan where the mighty Younis Khan is insulted when summoned by elected reps.

I also heard when he was asked about whose Tafseer of the Quran he has read, he replied that he’s read the tafseer by Hazrat Musa - :smack: x 2.

..I’m surprised he didn’t even know those BASIC answers. What a god-damned fool!
