So we all know how important jummah namaz is for men…namaaz at the masjid in jamaat on jummah.
Just the other day I was talking to our local masjid leadership (or whatever you may call it) and they were saying that these days more women are attending jummah prayers than men even though it is not obligatory for them to come at all…and a lot of these women are working women who come in for the khutbah and namaz then return to work.
And this isn’t just at our masjid…I know many men who have never attempted to go for jummah even though the masjids aren’t that far away…I’m not being judgemental here, and forgive me if I sound like it, but are women getting more involved in masjid activities these days? Why?
Seriously please, do not bash me here, but I am seeing more and more women volunteering…yes even working women, taking charge…
I think women are getting more involved in masjid activities these days. One reason I think is that women see mosques as more than a place to pray. They see it as a community center, a place where their young kids can be associated with and enjoy a good healthy environment. They see it as a family place so treat it like a family place.
I believe in sm countries women offer prayers in Masjid and they are more then mens. But where i do live i always c masjid are full of men. Masjids is for muslims and muslim are male and females. Both are allowed to offer prayers in Masjid but our Prophet :saw2: said: Its better if women offer prayers at thiers home.
"Aishah said, “Women used to offer their prayers with the Messenger of Allah :saw2: and then they dismiss, while wrapping their heads in their scarf, without being recognized because of darkness.” And the Prophet :saw2: said, “Do not stop the female servants of Allah from attending the Masjid of Allah but let them go there without applying perfumes.” But prayer in her own house is best for her according to Abdullah ibn Omar, who reported that the Messenger of Allah said, “Do not prevent your women from (going to) the Masjid, though their houses are best for them.” (Abu Dawud).
So the general Islamic attitude is therefore that, if a masjid is essential for Muslims, it is essential for both partners, male and female for example: In Masjid-e-Nabvi and Khaha Ka’aba both partners offer prayers n hajj shoulder to shoulder.
There are plenty of women that attend Jummah prayers at my masjid. In fact, it's encouraged that women and their family come to the masjid. Women play an active role in the masjid I go to. Most of the Senior Members are women, and the events are organized by the women.
I've noticed that as well...there is an increasing number of woman that are coming to pray at the masjid...but still it was never more than the number of men.

I dont think that Niks is saying that more women than men are coming to mosques in terms of number, but percentage of growth. Numbers of women are increasing at higher percentage than men.

[Quran 4:25] Those among you who cannot afford to marry free believing women, may marry believing slave women. GOD knows best about your belief, and you are equal to one another, as far as belief is concerned...
As well, if you look in the Quran it does not segregate women and men for Jummah. In fact, the commandment is addressed to all those who believe, not men only. Knowing from Sura 4:25 that we are equal in belief, it is clear this verse applies to both men and women. So, the segregation of gender is based on hadiths which go against the Quran. So, which is correct? The proven word of GOD (Quran) or Buhkari's collection of hadiths written approx. 200 years after the prophet died based on rumors? Naturally, the Quran is correct...it is from GOD.*[Quran 62:9] O you who believe, when the Congregational Prayer (Salat Al-Jumu`ah) is announced on Friday, you shall hasten to the commemoration of GOD, and drop all business. This is better for you, if you only knew. *
