July Honeymoon

Fiance and I are planning for a quick honeymoon after our wedding July 18. We have to be back the next friday for work so we’re limited to a 4 day trip (I had wanted Maldives…darn).

We’re looking at places in the Caribbean since we’re flying from the east coast but I’m so overwhelmed by the sheer number of options and was hoping to narrow things down. I tried searching the other threads but that too got super overwhelming.

Our “preferences”:

  1. RELAXING AND ROMANTIC! Quiet and private. We want to take it easy before we come back and report to the hospital for work 2 days later. My ideal situation would be just to lounge around on the beach/pool and go eat good food and get massages. Snorkeling and maybe shopping.

  2. Someplace with a plungepool/private area of the beach where I could wear whatever I want freely without having to worry. I usually wear 1/2 sleeves and full pants so it’d be annoying to have my husband chilling on the beach while I’m stuck on shore with my full clothes.

  3. villa/cabana type with all ground level rooms (no 10th story rooms for me!)

  4. All inclusive… BUT we don’t drink so I don’t know if it’s worth it.

  5. we’re both foodies so good food (lots of seafood!)

The biggest problem we’re running into is that we have very little time (our walima is on Saturday so we’re trying to get back Friday morning/afternoon at the latest), that gives us 4 nights at the most.

Also, it’s hurricane season in the Caribbean.:smack:

Any input on nice caribbean locations we could go to? We’re open to Mexico as well, as long as it’s 1) safe 2) on the eastern part of the country to cut down on travel time.

help much appreciated =)

Re: July Honeymoon

^ She's a lucky one; that Niksik. :/

Re: July Honeymoon

Well lucky for niksik that she did not ask for a 4 days only all inclusive/private beach/villa-cabana/ vacation in Caribbean during hurricane season. :(

Re: July Honeymoon

we're actually looking at charleston for our "mini moon" since we won't be able to go on the honeymoon for a month after the wedding!

The other options (SB in particular) were on my list but we're flying from CA --> east coast so we want to maximize our time by flying somwhere closer vs flying back to the west.

umm I don't know if you're kidding or what but...okay. I didn't ask for those either--they were mutually decided upon. And that's great that your wife didn't; I just need the extra privacy becuase of what I choose to wear/not wear in front of people. Thanks for the (non)-help though

Re: July Honeymoon

I hate it when I feel awkward. and you made me

That was a joke. Dont you know that on GS, no one takes me seriously, and you should not either. :frowning:

SC, my apologies. I was just trying to act funny, but intention was not to make fun of you.

Mods, please remove my posts from this thread. I am using the app, but later tonight, will do it myself from the computer, if mods couldn't reach the thread before me

Re: July Honeymoon

it's okay. I understand. Sometimes the jokes are lost online so my bad. :)

Re: July Honeymoon

Re: July Honeymoon

have you guys tried researching your potentials on trip adviser/google travel or other similar sites? you get hundred of reviews and recommendations that way ....
thats bound to be more informative then 3-4 replies you might get here ...

also try posting in the travel section on this forum as well if you havnt already.

Re: July Honeymoon

should be in T&T forum :/

Re: July Honeymoon

yeah I emailed a travel agent today; I was just wondering since I feel like sometimes with religious/cultural restrictions, it's easier to ask girls who have been to places vs some random person that doesn't get why you need/want a plunge pool if you already have a beach right at your backyard.

sorry! I figured it was honeymoon related so wedding related which is why i posted it here. Are you able to move it?

Re: July Honeymoon

Did you look into mountain cabins etc? For eg. Ashville, NC or Gatlinburg, TN

Re: July Honeymoon

Yeah, those are super close to where we live now and we've been to both already with friends. We want something beachy/tropical for sure with less mountains and more water/sand. :P

Dollywood, Pigeon Forge. Yeahhhhhh

Re: July Honeymoon

TLK baaz aa jao :emmy:

Thread moved to T&T. Probably will get better and more replies here.

Re: July Honeymoon

My personal experience of honeymoon is non-existent but these are some online resources I’ve found.

1 - 22 Top Caribbean Honeymoon Spots

2 - Reviews on TripAdvisor

3 - Best Caribbean Honeymoons

4 - 5 BEST CARIBBEAN HONEYMOON RESORTS at Fodor’s Travel

I think it will be difficult to find someone here with personal experience, but let’s see if someone chips in.

Re: July Honeymoon

thank you! I took a look and narrowed 1-2 hotels in:

  1. Antigua
  2. st Lucia
  3. Grenada
  4. puerto Rico
  5. Mexico

for mexco, I need a little help. I’m from the west coast so know of the “western” Mexico honeymoon locales but we’re flying from the east so I need some recommendations for places that are 3-4 hours from there! Please?
