Judging developing societies based on moral standards of developed ones

Is it fair to judge societies that are at least 50 years behind the western or developed societies in almost every aspect? Is the reaction of ‘shock’, ‘astonishment’ or ‘lost for words’ on news coming out of developing countries justified given that such events were a norm only a 50 years ago in your own societies?

Now that you have developed better manufacturing processes and outsourced manufacturing to developing countries, why expect the developing societies to care for pollution as much as you do?

Now that you have improved your standing on issues like women’s rights, why expect developing societies like India to abruptly (or miraculously) change the way society behaves towards women?

Now that you have developed sophisticated espionage, why expect developing societies to suddenly give up methods you used 50 years ago?

In terms of pollution, proper assignment of emissions should be allocated based on end product USE. Should be straightforward to implement.

Notwithstanding the outsourcing of manufacturing, the west ( of Atlantic especially ) has by far the largest carbon footprint per capita.

Having said that, the affluent in developing countries have a much larger carbon footprint per capita than the poor.
