I’m an undergraduate student in BS(Hons) at Karachi university and I wish to continue my MS from abroad. So anyone please give me suggestion on the best schools abroad for Journalism.I have searched quiet alot about it and I have become prone to getting into Columbia or Northwestern university.considering, Columbia has the best Journalism program I’m more in favor of getting there but my pessimistic thoughts gets the best of me.I usually have this notion that I’m a student in Pakistan and might not meet the calibre of students Columbia accepts, but I’m still hopeful.I really wanna do something and make my parents proud and I think the answer is to get into a good university for graduate studies.so please guide me and give me suggestions on what what I have to do?..I’m planning to do internships and volunteering and getting a job.PS: my conviction to get into a university abroad is to have a different essence in my life and not because of the lust for America.
Re: Journalism schools
Columbia, definately! Depending on where in the States you want to be, also look into the journalism program at University of Texas at Austin...
Re: Journalism schools
Definitely stop thinking that you are “not good enough” and apply to Columbia/Northwestern. Both are top notch programs.
If you are looking for Science Journalism Program, MIT is an option: http://web.mit.edu/knight-science/
Berkeley is also top Notch: http://journalism.berkeley.edu/
All the best!
Re: Journalism schools
I once had a dream to pursue a career in journalism too .....haaa*takes a deep breathe with disappointment*
Well yes northeastern and columbia are both the best but I would recommend Columbia. Journalism itself is a very hard field to get into, and to get a decent job you gota compete like a thirsty dog! Columbia will anyday outdo northeastern on your resume. One of my friend went to columbia too for her mass comunications, I believe she graduates this year. So far shes had the best experience.
Re: Journalism schools
In my eyes, Columbia J-school is the best Journalism school in the world. Best of luck.
