Journal Star rating

How does the Journal star rating system work?

I have been on 2 stars for a long time. Yet the views per entry or comments per entry of my Journal is camparable if not better than some 3 star rated Journals, despite that fact that I on the whole keep myself to myself and don’t visit many other Journals.

Re: Journal Star rating

Votes.

Re: Journal Star rating

If it is votes, then it will be interesting to know how many people have voted. Votes only really mean anything when a large enough sample of people have voted. I don't recall personally voting for anyones journal (I might have once for Evil)...and I don't think most other users also vote. I was wondering if a moderator set the rating.

Re: Journal Star rating

Rating is by votes of the people reading the journal. Moderators and admins have nothing to do with it.

Re: Journal Star rating

In that case may I suggest in the interest of fairness, a) having all of the them rated 3 stars until a certain quorum is achieved in votes, or b) listing the number of votes or c) listing the people that have voted and their votes.

It would even bother me except for the fact that having looked at the numbers...the views per post and comments per posts suggests that the rating is wrong as far as I can quantify it. Perhaps only 10% of all journals are rated 2 stars and I know mine is not in the bottom 10% looking at the numbers.

Re: Journal Star rating

^ Not really, it is upto people which journal they want to read and reply to. if all the people who read and replied to your journal voted for it as 3 or 4 star you would have been up there. Obviously people who voted for your journal do not agree with your own assessment of it's rating

Re: Journal Star rating

I accept that it is up to people to decide which journal to read and reply to. What I am is saying is that people don't read journals that they don't like (so these journals are will not be getting so many views..the number of views per entry will go down) or people don't comment in the these Journals (so the number of comments per entry goes down).

If the views per entry or comments per entry is similar to other journals then it suggests that the number of people that voted is not a large enough sample.
