when i log out. i can read other people’s private journal by simpley clicking on thier latest entry under ‘new entry’. i know this because i tried it with my journal. thats y i have stoped doing my journal

This is a software glitch. See if we can resolve it.
But to be fair, how private is private? Come on, guys... this is internet we are talking about. Even email and IM's are not really private.

Faisal bhai, don't you think its fair to put up some temporary advisory and let people know there is a glitch? Not everyone comes into feedback on a regular basis.
Also, yes, this is the internet. But the GS team delivered a product to its people and it told its people that they have the opportunity to have a private journal which can be open to only certain people. At least honor that, rather than scoff it off.
I'm sure the Glitch will be fixed, but its only fair to notify people.

Well, as I said, we'll see if it can be fixed. I can't guarantee that it will be. May be an Admin should make an announcement in this regard as well, just to warn people.
As a bynote, when email started to become prevalant, it was said "only write that in your email, that you won't mind seeing on the office notice board". I guess, the saying holds true practically everywhere else on the net too.

then there should be a disclaimer. i asked in another feedback thread, who has access to the journals, and azkar replied that only he has.
if you can't guarantee complete privacy because you feel that you don't have the infrastructure to guard against typical infiltrations, then say so.
i'd feel bad for all the people writing personal things down and then someone spying in on it.

^I Agree. Admins please notify in announcement it could be really sensitive for some ppl specially when the readers r the ppl u know or perhaps r the ones u r talking about in ur private entries.

hmmmmmmmm.. sounds to me a fix-check of :
*user="" or user<>poster then deny * type theory .. ..
errrrrr.. yea that should work.. for private-entries only..

i mentioned this problem in another thread opened by waleed, you can read the private entries only if you're logged out.
lol azkar and half a dozen others get to read your private entries? its best if you remove the lock altogether me thinks.

Hold on... I need to replicate the problem here. As I see it, you can have your journal either private or public. And then for each journal entry you have to specify if it is private or public. I created a public journal with a private journal entry, logged out and tried to read it using "Latest Entry", and it didn't show me anything. Are you guys sure, you are also specifying each private journal entry as "Private"?

I think the private entries r not shown in the “Latest entries”. Here so u cant access them from here

But, ur journal shows the last entry as well (even tho the journal itself is private or the entry is private) & if u click them from here when u r logged out u can view it. (Notice that fish log journal is private but its showing its last entry as a link)

Others can confirm or write their notes if diffrent.

Alright try now. I have switched off journal viewing capabilities for all "Not Logged In" people. Logged in members can not view private journal entries. So it should work.
By the way, a link may still show. But when you click on it, it will give a "You do not have permission" message.
Let me know if there is still a problem.
