King Abdullah, shown with President Bush in December, is a key U.S. ally.

AMMAN, Jordan (April 20) - The king of Jordan, one of America’s closest allies in the Middle East, postponed a White House meeting with President Bush this week, questioning the U.S. commitment to ending the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The snub from King Abdullah II is the most recent expression of Arab anger at Bush for endorsing an Israeli proposal to withdraw unilaterally from all of the Gaza Strip but from only parts of the West Bank. That would leave Jewish settlements on some West Bank land claimed by the Palestinians.

Delayed a month, they're meeting in May.

He just wants more money, that is all. Once he secures his grant he will come running to his daddy like any other dictator.

**Arab allies hit back at Bush administration over Iraq, Israel **](http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2004/04/20/national1815EDT0755.DTL)

An AP News Analysis

WASHINGTON (AP) – **Egypt’s president says Arabs hold a “hatred never equaled” toward America. Jordan’s king abruptly postpones a visit to the White House. And those are among the United States’ best friends in the Arab world. **

The war in Iraq, and a shift on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, has left the Bush administration facing growing hostility and an estrangement from friends across the Middle East.

“There is enormous anger in the Arab world that needs to be dealt with,” said Nail Al-Jubeir, a spokesman for the Saudi embassy in Washington.

It’s unclear whether the estrangement is temporary or longer-lasting. There already are signs that the United States may be considering some measures to reassure Arabs about its intentions on the Palestinians.

The Bush administration probably will try to bridge the gap, agreed Telhami, because right now it needs Arab allies to help with its efforts in Iraq.

"The Bush administration finds itself vulnerable on the Iraq issue, needing a lot of international cooperation to succeed in Iraq unlike what was expected a year ago. And they need these governments," Telhami said. “They’re going to have to find a way to work with them.”

Jordan and Egypt are the only two of Israel’s Arab neighbors to have a peace treaty with Israel. Yet people in both countries were enraged last week when Bush endorsed an Israeli proposal to withdraw unilaterally from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank but keep Jewish settlements on other West Bank land claimed by the Palestinians.

Suspicious of Bush’s strong support for Israel and his endorsement of Sharon as a man of peace, the Arabs have not been dissuaded by Bush’s support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

EDITOR’S NOTE – Barry Schweid has covered Middle East diplomacy for The Associated Press since 1973.

How much more can the arabs hate america? Was 9/11 not enough display of hatred? I don't think it is possible to hate as much as arabs do. If america were to surrender to arabs, they would still hate it. They will keep burning in the fire of hate and jealousy.

Put it this way... 9/11 was the work of some radicals, and most muslims were willing to disassociate from them. The recent actions by US and support for the ghastly Sharon plan has alienated most all of them. Thats a new. And thats what Bush has done.

So, now after alienating some of his closest allies in Europe in his rush to avenge the attempt on his "Daddy", he has also made it difficult for the spine-less Arab rulers to keep supporting the US.

He's only "postponing" the meeting with Bush. Cancel it, that will show something. Postponing it is similar to a little slap on the wrist.

Dude, actually I am more willing to fly out where ever in the world you are to give you money, just let me know the complete address please.(If indeed you are in that desperate need of help). Besides that, your info is incorrect I left New york almost 6 months ago.

Last but not least, Yes he will meet the bush I never said that he wont meet bush. You jumped onto conclusion yourself. And yes I do think that if he did it purposely then at least he had a little bit of courge to show. He might not have enough balls to cancel the meeting but whatever he can do he did. If its for money then its a different story.

No, muslims were dancing on the streets after 9/11 and blaming jews, mossad, and cia for the attacks. Muslims have become out of touch with reality.

Who said the ‘radicals’ were Muslim?

Are you absolutely nuts? No Muslims danced on the streets after 9/11. CNN mischievously planted some images of supposedly-dancing-in-the-streets-Palestinians that were later proved to be a footage from years back!

Actually, some people tried to claim that the footage was old, but it turned out to be true. And do you remember all the protests in pakistan in support of osama?
