UTD bhaijaan, 10k is all good and stuff but how do I make money. That is what I care about.

has anyone invested in Hedge funds? I would be curious to know.

Dow has touched the heights, now it'll fall.

YOu want make money? Invest in India today, pull out in 3 months. Choose totally liquid shares, like Zee, Tata. Fool proof tip.

KSE (Karachi Stock Exchange) surged from below 2500 to above 4000 points in 2003.

^ I hope you made a pile like a good boy?

Karina, I was speaking to an Indian banker friend and he pretty much said the same thing. Even if you hedge against the dollar, your return q/q will be over 100%

Umer, take karina's advice. ALthough, I am sure there are more than 5 stocks on the KSE.

Mat- so I guess the best would be to invest in India and hedge, both?

There is talks of the BSE going to 7000. It is simply mind boggling. Last week's Business week had the India phenomenon as the cover story...the economy is going gangbusters. Gimme all your money and I will make me rich.

^ exactly. India is the place to be right now for the next 3-4 months. All insider tips end up at BSE.

I'm emptying the piggy bank and buying Tata steel and Wipro.

Wipro has gone up 25% q/q even in the ADR trading in the US. Youc an get same return without the volatility of the INdian stock markets.

The Indian bank I work has had the p/s increase of over 200% since I joined. 150% in the last year. Thank god for options…:nuch: Remember divide the number of options by two and multiply the strike price by 2, to get the real return.

:hoonh: No, I didn´t.

Why?

Matsui: What is the average return (p.a.) that Hedge funds are giving in the US?

I hope the 10k doesn't initiate the classic boom-bust cycle though :p since most of the follower investors do not really get to know what high is high enough to liquidate their portfolios and what low is low enough to begin picking up. Sab kahein beech main he utha kar (meri tarha) khush rehte hain :D

Karina: BSE sounds interesting, i would like to discuss a few stocks there, can you open a separate thread on BSE and what are your top picks and why? It may be worthwhile to note the differences between BSE and KSE (lil brother) and what really has excited both the markets, are the fundamentals for the excitement the same and how long you think the bull-run would continue. Thanks.

Ok, shall do but let me just do a bit of homework. I'm not a hot shot in stocks like Matsui. Mat, maybe you'd like to open this thread? Khanzada is right, it'll be very informative and who knows, might make someone a bit of money on BSE or KSE.
