i agree w/ mercenary2k - that is the only way pak military can actually get ahead. creating an alliance with afghanistan is a good political step..might even help them out a lil bit, but speaking on military grounds, its not gonna benefit pak a whole lot. 
im not that well-informed..tell me more abt it.
