Re: joint family concept in islam and a separate portion for new couple.

Peace designerpk,

The best for new couple is to have a separate home b'coz wife is not bounded to serve husband's parents. I think there is no concept of serving parents-in-law in Islam but one do in hope that Almighty Allah will reward her than she can do i.e., live in joint family.

Re: joint family concept in islam and a separate portion for new couple.

there is NO such requirement to live in a joint family system. it's more of a cultural thing and a need rather than a religious requirement. the ONLY relationship that one is responsible [ingrained in Islamic shari'a] is that of the parents. one must take at least minimal care of them physically as well as financially and of course emotionally. on the Day of Judgement, Allah will reprimand you if you irked on this fareeza. it's a serious responsibility on children.

Peace khalil bhai!

I agree its a cultural thing and in past, purpose of marrying son is that her wife do all house-job instead of mother. Islam have nothing to do with this.
