Joining a person who is already praying

Peace All

I have observed some behaviour that has made me wonder what the correct view is about joining a prayer in jammat that has already commenced.

I understand that joining a jammat after it has started is acceptable, but people are aware that it is a jammat.

Furthermore I have seen people join others who are praying but they are not necessarily doing the fard of that prayer.

Also sometimes the person joining intends the prayer to be zuhr but prays in jammat behind the imam doing 'asr. I have no real issue with this …

There was a time when I joined a prayer in the third rakat and I stood up to pray the final three afterwards, but in that time someone joined me and started to pray when I was in my third rakat … this means that potentially a chain of people could go on. Where I was first praying silently after the person who joined me I felt that I had to start doing ‘Allahuakbar’ loudly …

All this has troubled me … Additionally when a person has been late for zuhr and the jammat for 'asr is standing do you pray zuhr in the asr jammat or do you pray 'asr and zuhr afterwards or do you leave the jammat because the time for 'asr is long enough to offer and it is more important to pray kazda?

I have my own thoughts but quite frankly I don’t know for sure … has anyone got any detailed information on this?

Re: Joining a person who is already praying

This happens at my uni alot. I would be praying Sunnah and someone will come to join me as if I'm reading fardh. Happens often during Duhr and Asr.

The best thing to do is keep praying your salah, dont get disturbed or raise your voice during it, just keep praying as if he never joined you.

Thats what I've been told from ullema after inquiring.

^ JazakAllahu Khair

Then surely these boobies need to be told not to do this it is distracting. Or is it a matter of difference of opinion?

Re: Joining a person who is already praying

^ I dont think its in any of the four fiqhs.

Whoever does do it though, they believe that if their intentions are right, it doesn't matter what the other person (leading) is doing.

lolz...that's funny.
