Not many people know the reasoning behind it and specially geo. US Embassy does not come under pakistan but house of the diplomat does. so IK wanted to meet him on sovereign ground. Like a boss eh?

US Embassy is more sovereign as it is owned by USA and ruled by law compared to Pakistani territory which is for sale and lawless.
