Jodie Foster May Next Direct a Sci-Fi Thriller

According to the L.A. Times’ Hero Complex blog, Jodie Foster is planning to follow up ‘The Beaver’ with an untitled sci-fi thriller that currently boasts no identifiable writer or plot. So yes, this is vague news at best, but there’s one simple reason this news excites us (well, at least me): the star of ‘Contact’](Contact (1997) - Movie | Moviefone) appears to be cycling back towards science fiction. “There’s a family element to it, but it’s much more a genre movie,” Foster said in an interview after “The Beaver” premiere in Austin, Texas. “I’d like to do that 'cause that’s a world I live in as an actor but I’ve never really gone to as a director. I’d still have to have all the other stuff in a film. It can’t just be, ‘There’s a bad guy, there’s a monster.’ It has to have all the other stuff too.”
