I’m just starting to think abt life after university, and was wondering how someone goes about getting a Job in the USA.
US based ppl, or ideally Uk ppl who moved there to work, how is this done?

It depends on how much demand is there for your skills. Currently the job market has been rough for skilled workers, and absolutely tough for new graduates, they say its the worst it has been in 9 years for new grads.
So, unless its some field that there is a tremendous demand in, or you have a higher degree from a top notch uni and some experience before your advanced degree, it could be tough.
This does not mean it can not happen.
knowing what your degree is in may help ppl answer your queries, teh answer could vary based on your field.
It is in History and Politics....I hope to become a teacher. Is that a likely route to going to the US?
The mass of replies were really helpful.
I wont hesistate to post anpther topic here...never.
hehe, dont worry, careers section often doesnt get many replies.
I have a friend who is a history major and teaching is good in the US because there is a demand for it now. It will take time for you to be certified so you should start on that process immediately. I am talking about secondary and elementary level, not college. The pay scale usually is around 30K - 35K starting, although it never really goes much higher than that.
My history major friend just got her temporary certification, the certification varies state to state, and even by counties, so you need to decide what state you would like to get certified in.
I'd prefer to teach in one of the major states, California, NY, someplace like that. One of those big schools, mixed race classes and all that...
Your friend went from the Uk to the US yeah?
