Jobless

I am a recent graduate with a double major in Political Science and Communication Studies from Canada.
I finished my degree in June and since then I have been applying for jobs on a daily basis and have only had 2 interviews, out of which one rejected and one never got back to me.
All other places that called me for an interview and seemed “interested” were marketing or sales job which I have no interest in doing.

Within my field, at the moment it seems impossible to get a job since everyone requires experience which I obviously don’t have and have no idea where to get it from if no one is willing to offer entry level jobs.

I have been applying to banks as a customer service rep or call centre because from what I heard u eventually have a lot of growth/development chances after a few months or so based on your performance already.

The only reason why I was calm about being jobless was because all my other friends are in the same boat even the ones with an “engineering” degree.

BUT now its getting a little frustrating.. literally no one is calling for an interview - I think I have a pretty decent education and previous customer service/retail experience along with volunteer work as a student.

How long does it usually take? IS it just Canada or elses where to? If this continues what are my other career options?

Re: Jobless

What do you want to do? When you chose this combination of fields what were you thinking of doing? Is that still what you want to do?

How are you applying? University placement? On campus interviews? Posting to jobs online? What are the differences between you and the people getting those roles, or who are in the type of roles you want?

What else are you doing in your job search?

It's not always easy, especially for your first job. I mentor undergrads from my uni and can give you some pointers before you start looking for plan B. So try answering these questions and I can give you some ideas, there are others here who may know your local economy better and can chime in as well.
