my job requires me to stare at the computer screen for 8 hours straight 5 days a week. I have no idea how much damage this is causing to my eyes. but they always feel tired and im starting to get dark circles. i heard there’s some sort of screen you put in front of the computer to avoid too much exposure, anyone know what its called and where i can get it?

I hear ya girl! You can ask your boss to order the monitor screen for you or just go down to office max, best buy etc. and buy one for yourself if your boss is too lazy. Also a flat screen monitor might be helpful :)

only 8 hours a day? and then 5 days a week? that's like 40 hours a weeek?
I usually end up spending 12 hours a day 7 days a week infront of computer hmm.. thats 84 hours hehe i am used to it.. not sure what damage its doing to my eyes but so far Allah ka shukar hai..
you will get used to it and you should take break after few hours.. :)

i work in an office too.. and majority of the time i'm taking calls and typing... for me it's done wonders, my eye site is good and i'm good with my fingers....

hmm..... i m going through exactly the same, 40 hours in front of screen at work and another 5 hours a day in front of computer at work (overall around 80 hours a week), you should always relax yourself every now and then by closing your eyes for a while, looking outdoors away from screen etc etc and follow other occupational health and safety procedures.

Same here, 8 hours a day for 5 days and sometimes in the evenings too after work!!
I've been doing this for 4 years, and my eyesight is getting weaker. I think I should see a doctor about it. My eyes also get blurry easily and it is difficult to wear my contact lenses for more than 4-5 hours.
But I heard that every 20 minutes you should look away from the screen for one minute to focus on something else and it should be ok. I haven't tried it because I always forget :(
