A friend of mine, left for UK to persue a Master’s degree. Unfortunately, due to some financial obligations, his family is unable to support him. He has only been there for 3 months. He wants to leave his further study and come back.
Wouldn’t it be possible for him to get a job in UK(Northamptonshire) and persue his masters also?
Can any body help in securing him an interview? I am sure just an interview would make the company like him. He did his bachelor’s from FAST on a scholar ship. For people who know FAST, I am sure this statement says it all.
well lots of my fellow fastians are unable to find job in UK .... cuz of visa issue ......
i dont know the details ... but they are not authorize to work any where they want
well a student visa in UK allows him to legally work part time during school (20 hrs per week), and fulltime during breaks.
in some cases its foreign students are explicitly not allowed to work, it would state that on his visa, but he should confirm regardless with the home office.
Now the question is of expenses and income, would working 20 hrs/week meet his educational and living expenses?
student visa allows him to work 20hrs MAX/week. he wants a job related to his field? If he wants to persue his studies then it's extremly difficult to keep a professional job and study at the same time. For a permanent job he needs a work permit. he CAN apply for short term contracts since there is this relaxation for working full hrs DURING study breaks.
PS: he wants a full time job or part time? where exactly he is based. Glasgow, Newcastle or sunderland??
ask him to email me his cv (PM for email address).
K Khan, can you please pm me you remail address. My email program is unable to validate the one you have written here?
X2: Yes that is right. If he works odd jobs he would not be able to work it out enough to meet his expenses. How much do you think 20hrs/week job would get him?(i know this is a wrong question to ask without evaluating the candidate, but just as a point of reference..)
20 hours will mean a part time position. If VERY lucky perhaps £10 in a office ~£200 p/m without tax's. More likely will be around the minimum wage in retail or similar for ~ £5.60 hour.
If he is clever as you suggest why not run a ebay business. That is what some Chinese house mates of mine did. In fact made more money than they would working full time.
It does not matter if he's a FASTian or SLOWian. That's all irrelevant.
Working part time is one option but it's unlikely he'll get a real job. To be honest, it's not even worth the hassle. He'll make more money opening up an online business or privately tutoring uni kids.

:) you are right... I am a Mohammadan myself (MAO College, Lahore). I used the college name for him just as a point of reference.
K Khan, thanks for all the help. We really appreciate it...
