Okay so basically we have to start applying for our grad jobs already.. and I sent off my Specsavers application (Optometry student) about a month ago.. My interview is on Wednesday BUT today I was just discussing it with my friend and asking about what sort of stuff he thought I should know about the company.. and then he was like yeah they have 1390 stores. And I’m like.. no I’m sure they have 26 000 stores? And he was like.. LOL are you feeling okay?
Sooooo I went to their site again and it said 26 000 so I’m like phew… NO. 26 000 EMPLOYEES, not STORES. I had written in my application:
“Expanding from 1 store, to 26 000 worldwide stores in 25 years can only be described as phenomenal…”
At this point I wanted to go jump out a window. But yeah. How could I be such a bimbo?? No, seriously.
So I have the interview.. do you guys reckon they are gonna bring it up? Do you think they noticed? :halo:
And if so, how do I cover up the situation? (though I think its well past that )
Hahaha oh my days, that is hilarious. The fact that you've got an interview means they've overlooked the little mistake, but if it's brought up just laugh it off. It's not something they're gonna majorly penalise you for thats for sure.

or they might have brought her in to bring up this point... it's certainly possible. Your best bet is to cover it up by saying you meant to say "worldwide employees" instead of "worldwide stores" - and also make sure you know many other details about them - this time accurate details :D
I agree with kurrip, and your best bet is to just come clean and say you misread it...then slightly laugh it off. Teh rest of your knowledge should be pretty damn accurate to make up for it!
Inzi.. poor you … not the best situation to be in … but hey have faith , I do grad recruitment in my company and I am positive they will have caught the mistake , mostly , employers are not that tough on the grads … however a word of advise … dont bring this up yourself in the interview , unless asked , when they ask you what you know about the company, make sure you say the correct stuff .. if they indicate your application mistake , be honest and say it must have been a typo and take it light .. and most importantly try to steer the conversation into a more positive one …
Its not a huge mistake or else they wouldnt have called you in for the interview ! Good luck.
