Jinnah's family barely survives in Quaid’s city

Re: Jinnah’s family barely survives in Quaid’s city

Really sad and pathetic, NO NOT Mr Aslam Jinnah’s condition, but the wit, memory and reasoning ability, not just of our common Pakistani, but the shameless media which rides every tide that ensure the least bit of commotion and hence higher hits>ratings>ads>revenues!

This recent clip here from Aaj TV seems to have been produced with this above The Nation article from 2006 in the director’s hand.

Now ironically this issue of Quaid’s grandson in Karachi and his miseries comes up every few months and the media re-hypes it with the same zeal each time.

In 2004 when Dina Wadia, came to Pakitan first time for 2 days, there was hype that Quaids family here would meet them; when Dina and her children, Quaid’s ONLY GRANDCHIDREN & great grandchildren from his ONLY DAUGHTER from his ONLY consummated wife Ruttie, came here she didnt meet them and apparently denied the alleged connection.

The connection was also denined by Liaquat Merchant a notable lawyer and Karachi citizen, who is Quaid’s sister’s son thus Quaid being his maternal uncle.

On 25 March 2004 Dawn published this.

** Quaid’s ‘new kin’ stranger to Merchant**

Previous day 24 March 2004 carried this;
http://www.dawn.com/2004/03/24/local2.htm
Quaid’s niece, family members visit mazar
where Aslam Jinnah was referred as Quaids grandson…

On 27 March 2004 after Dina Wadia visted Karachi on 26th this was in the paper;

** Dina Wadia visits mausoleum of Quaid**

The Nation on 19 Sep 2006 carried this news, which I clearly remember reading elsewhere including hard copy as well as watching on TV news;

Better late than never
*"The fifty-four year old Khurshid Begum and her brother Aslam Jinnah, of fifty-two years were called to the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi. The Chief Minister gave them a patient hearing and afterwards announced a donation of one house, a car, Rs one lakh in cash and a stipend of Rs 20 thousand per month for lifetime for the brother and sister.
Better late than never.

Now about Quaid’s other wife; he was 14/15 when his father sent him to England, shortly before he was married to a girl in a relatives family somewhere in Gujrat. The Nikah was held, and rukhsati planned after Mohamed Ali’s return from England after education few years later. It was all an arranged matter and while he was still in England the girl passed away. So the chapter ended there.
There are no *descendants *from that marriage.

And finally most recently, Liaquat Merchant finally offers an explanation much needed!

Thanks for this Reza :k:

***With all due respect for Mr Aslam Jinnah and his sad state as well as whatever connection he may have with the Quaid; the Govt’s support should be extended to some extent, but a stern announcemtn to clera up the misconception, confusion and repated media-stunts both by the media and the subject should be checked with facts and made public officially. ***
