Just wondered if anyone had seen the movie and what you thought of it, as Pakistanis and as movie goers?
There was some controversy surrounding the making of the film and it subsequently did not get a full cinema release, and as far as I’m aware, the film did not get a cinema release outside of Pakistan.
It was a bit slow and not many people would follow the 'Jinnah narrating his story from the dead' concept. A simpler more focused movie would have served the cause better.
The movie is nice. But as i said it many times before, if someone wants to know about the history and about Mohammad Ali Jinnah, then watch the drama Jinnah Say Quaid.
Jinnah was an awesome film. The actors did so well, the concept and execution was brilliant, not the typical linear autobiographical form. What sticks to my mind is this "Jail scene" in which all the people who let down Pakistan during and prior to independence are put on trial, or something on those lines. Those who couldn't follow the format, well you guys need an IQ boost - this was more than the your average song-and-lots-of-hipshaking film. Now the DVD's out, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
I actually thing they cud have done A LOT better. I mean a person meeting the engel of death? That doesnt really sound like a serious biographical film. But thats just me.
