that creation of pakistan had less to do with 'saving' muslims and in fact ended up in millions dying; that the bloodshed was entirely avoidable and Gandhi tried like hell to avoid it; that Jinna took a calculated decision that agreeing to Gandhi's offer meant personal loss and therefore kept playing the rae card.
Once formed as country however, Jinna was the father of pakistan and so stating these truths has been mistakenly deemed speaking ill of the Quaid and hence generations gave grown without knowing the truth
Yeah Indians are the only ones that know that truth. The truth is that as per Indian standards the cause that millions sacrificed for and millions left home for, is all a lie.
And alsi what you say is World media = Indian media = bollywood and everything bollywood says is true.
Indeed he did. Mandella was big fan of Gandhi. Not the Gandhi from 1893 who was a loyal admirer of everything British, and the person who wrote how Indians in Africa were above the natives.
Mandela admired the post Bambata rebellion Gandhi who upon witnessing the massacre of Zulus by his British Army decided to have his life go in a different direction. For which Gandhi became an example to the world and righly so.
However, when i noted that there are critics of Gandhi in South Africa, I meant that there are ppl who criticize his approch, writings and viewpoints of the pre bambata revolution Gandhi.
This was just to respond to the little point by our friend earlier that only Pakistanis criticize Gandhi. I dont think so, some do, some dont. Just like Many Indians criticize Jinnah.
Indians criticize Gandhi too, one of them really let his feelings know by a gun.
^ and so there you have it! Gandhi must have done something right to get you lads and lassies foaming like that! Poor chap - he was actually saving your skins!
^ Oh, I've already gotten it, thank you very much. I don't blindly follow gandhi like you do. gandhi did accomplish much because he was notoriously cunning and dishonest politician that made even dr. ambedkar, the leader of the untouchables hate him (it's not just pakistanis and s. africans). i'm not going to make gandhi look like some sort of super hero hindu saint that you want me to. i'm not going to follow a historically innacurate film either. i look at gandhi from a historical standpoint and make my conclusions from there.
us lads and lassies foaming? No foaming here just trying to be objective
whatever gave you that idea. Objectivity is something that does not seem to be among people’s qualities here.
while it is completely wring as some of my countrymen have done to blast Gandhi, it is also wrong to completely ignore that the man has skeletons in his closet.
I have great respect and admiration for most of Gandhis work against the British Raj. At the same time I dont really care for his statements and actions in South Africa prior to Bambata revolution.
Did the guy change, yes, did he change for the better, yes, was he perfect after changing, no, was he a good role model, absolutely, was he perfect before changing..far from it.
