Been away for a while, but i’m back at least for now. Now to elaborate, here are some common reasons why they might stalk a person:
Attraction - They get attracted to humans and that is why you’ll hear about women being instructed not to wear perfume or leave hair exposed when passing by trees/wooded areas as that can attract their attention.
Anger - it is possible to harm them without even realizing it or if they assume some tangible form (e.g. animal or insect) then they can also be harmed if attacked in this state.
Otherwise, they might do it just for fun–sometimes it is just fun for them to scare people and the more scared people get, the more it encourages them.
