Since I have helped many people get over their Jinns by taking them to psychiatrist and put them on medication. I have seen them getting better with the help of medication to the extent that they are all leading normal lives now , I believe they were/are all psychiatric patients . And if the loved ones overcome their superstitions all of these folks can be treated and can become productive members of society again.
I do believe in Quran . Quran talks about existence of Jinns. So they are there. Where they are I do not know. If they are capable of possessing someone I do not think so.
There is one verse in Quran which says about people who charge interest on money they act as if shaitan has touched them. And shaitan is a jinn . But still it is not talking about possession by jinn and it is not valid for every situation where people behave as if they are possessed by jinn.
