Jhoomar help!

Hi all!

Okay so, since I wear hijab I don’t intend to show much of my hair for my day. But I still want my jhoomar to show a little bit! :frowning: So I’m thinking about getting this certain type that is actually a stiff piece attached to your hair.. instead of dangling from one point. Hopefully it would show up better instead of sliding back under the dupatta like a regular one would..

Can anyone help find different pictures of ones like this? so that I may have an idea of what I want when I get mine made. I would really appreciate it, thanks!

Alternatively, you could have your hair styled in such a way so as to camouflage the chains attached to the hair ornament itself; you’d have to work closely w/ your stylist on that one.

thanks Roxx! I thought about that too, but it seems almost impossible to set the jhoomar so that it'll show but won't show too much of my hair in result. Unless there is a way to actually attach the end/bottom part of the jhoomar to stay at the desired spot on my head, I don't see what else I can do except find something like the one I have pictured above. That way it wouldn't move around and show at least a little bit throughout the night while my dupatta still keeps most of my hair covered. Thanks, though. and let me know if you find anything!

You’d be surprised at what a talented stylist can do with a couple of bobby pins and some fishing line, lol! I think with the circular or more pendant-like jhoomers, the chain would be easier to conceal than with the crescent-shaped jhoomers which are held together with multiple chains (that are thus more difficult to conceal).

Re: Jhoomar help!

We have a big fat thread dedicated to hijabi brides with loads of pics. Browse that and you’ll find many ideas:

The same goes for Jhoomar pics:

^ But could that really be considered a hijabi bride? It just looks like the neck, neckline and part of the forehead/hairline have been digitally altered/colored/covered.

Re: Jhoomar help!

No, with this you can have an idea of how a bride would look with a hijab, teeka and a jhoomar.

Oh, I see. Got it!

Thanks a lot, both of you! that website was perfectt, Roxx! :) and those links really helped too, mahismart. Thanks for being so helpful! I love this forum hehe.
