Lusi, if that was the case then we’d just all starve, becasue then nothing could be absolutely halal unless we had our very own backyard full of animals. Once someone says that its’ halal, you should have no reason to doubt them.

I hope by someone you mean, A Muslim; for the ruling I am aware of is based on the ahadeeth that instruct us to believe a Muslim if he/she says about the meat if it is halal or not.
