Jhat-Pat Recipes

Well! At last I have moved to a rented accomadation which I am not sharing with any one . My own home:)

I am really fond of eating but not cooking.

I would like to ask guppies here for some quick recipies (Asian) or tips. Last time I cooked Kadoos(lokee) I cooked it with the skin , I t was disgusting …

Points to remember before giving advice…

I come back from work at 6 pm.mon to friday
I have a small chopper and no microwave nor any food processor.
If it takes more then 40 minutes to cook a meal I loose my appetite.

my personal favorite: daal

before i start giving you out ideas..i just wanna know..do you have a pressure cooker?

i have noticed that qeema and chicken dishes are cooked in less time..so making qeema and chicken related dishes can be quick :)

good point Qrius. Pressure cooker not only cooks meat faster but also retains nutrients in vegetables.

I dont think any meal should take more than 45 minutes to cook from scratch using a PC.

In 40 min you can even cook murg pulav.

Chaat, any kind.
Kebab, kache qeeme ke
pakoRe (saada, alu, mirch, palak etc)
Alu ki tikyaa
most vegies (bhindi, baigan, ghobi etc)
Fish, (curry fish, fried, kebab or roast / steam)
Most Chicken dishes (jalferezi, roast chicken, kaRahi etc)
Any kind of bhujiya ehh

Alu / Mattar / Channa pulav, if you're good even chiken pulav.

Etc.

Thanks Irem…

PKC, lets say if a normal daal takes 20/25 minutes in making..it will only take less than 5 minutes in pressure cooker. If you don't have one..don't worry about it..i can give other recipes. Pressure cooker phatay ga nahin..fikr nahin kariay :)

One more suggestion..my mom cooks the dinner a day ahead around late evening/night time..so when she comes from work..she eats first..and then she get plenty of time to spend on cooking.

Mehroo and Qirus Thanks allot.

acha certain questions .........

  1. I have heard onions if frozen loose there taste and moisture?????
  2. I would rather prefer cutting fresh garlic and ginger (I think pasted that comes in a jar doesnt have any taste) more over for one handi it would take less then 2 minutes to cut from fresh.

  3. I will get pressure cooker , but qirus u will have to tell me all recipies made in PC as I have never used it b4.

  4. Freezing food is a good idea , but I dont have a microwave to thaw it. btw I had made tikkas once and then froze them when I cooked them again they were as hard as stones i.e after cooking.

  5. I am not an early eater so I would prefer to come home and cook and eat around 9 pm.

Now a simple recipe from my side , its a filling dip try it with doritos or plain salted crisps.

A bowl of yogurt
4 fresh green chillies(choped finely)
1 teaspoon red chillie powder
Fresh dhaniya(corriander) cut and chopped
1 full teaspoon Zeera powder

u can increase or decrease the ingredients according to taste.
Mix all of them well and enjoy it as a dip for crisps,Nachos etc....

Health issue for some friends: People who drink alcahol specially beer avoid having large portions of this dip as it will make u extreemly sleepy and give u allot of acidity.

  1. I have heard onions if frozen loose there taste and moisture?????
  2. yes, it can..so another option is that you can keep in fridge in an air tight container for about a week..without any problems..i usually cut fresh *

  3. I would rather prefer cutting fresh garlic and ginger (I think pasted that comes in a jar doesnt have any taste) more over for one handi it would take less then 2 minutes to cut from fresh.

  4. it your personal preference..i make cubes of ginger garlic paste coz i don't like it in raw form..*

  5. I will get pressure cooker , but qirus u will have to tell me all recipies made in PC as I have never used it b4.

  6. you don't have to buy a pressure cooker..you can use everyday utensils..my mom cooks in pressure cooker only at time..i always use a wide spread utensil..i prefer using karhai *

  7. Freezing food is a good idea , but I dont have a microwave to thaw it. btw I had made tikkas once and then froze them when I cooked them again they were as hard as stones i.e after cooking.

  8. you don't have to freeze them..you can just keep food in fridge..and you can just heat it up in utensils on your stove..*
