First Pak made JF-17 to fly in country’s airspace by end this year: Air Chief

ISLAMABAD June 27 (APP): Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman on Saturday said that first Pakistan made JF-17 - Thunder - aircraft would fly in the country’s airspace by end of this year.He made this announcement while addressing the Graduation Ceremony of No 38 Combat Commanders’ Course which was held at Pakistan Air Force Base, Mushaf (Sargodha).
In his address to the graduating Combat Commanders, he said, The JF-17 Thunder programme is on track. “We will start production of this aircraft from 30th of this month and Inshallah 1st Made in Pakistan JF-17 aircraft will fly in Pakistan’s airspace by end of this year.”
“PAF has extensively flown against the militants in Swat as well as in FATA. Application of airpower has brought about tangible results. This is a new type of warfare in which PAF has been participating for the first time during the last one year or so in support of Pakistan Army. We will continue our contribution towards our national security effort as long as it is required.”
Referring to the challenges confronted the nation, he said ‘the challenges, both internal and external, that confront us today and our responses to these have to be viewed in the broader perspective of the changes that are shaping the geopolitical landscape of the world. Apart from the traditional hostile adversary, new frontiers of conflict have lately emerged for us in the West and from within. These developments pose a great deal of threat to our national security.”
The Chief Guest awarded certificates and trophies to the graduating officers who underwent a strenuous and professionally demanding course.
The Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for the best Combat Commander was awarded to Squadron Leader Haider Shahbaz Ali while Air Officer Commanding Air Defence Command Trophy for best Combat Controller was awarded to Squadron Leader Saquib Rehman.
Earlier on his arrival, the Chief Guest was received by Air Commodore M Ashfaque Arain, Base Commander PAF Base, Mushaf. The ceremony was attended by Principal Staff Officers and field commanders of Pakistan Air Force.

It would be a symbol of pride to see the Thunder flying Pakistani skies. A fruit of Sino-Pak friendship, and just the tip of the iceberg.

Pakistan already possesses JF-17s based at Peshawar. This new batch would mark the beginning of jets manufactured within Pakistan.

Yes we need these eagles at Peshawar air base to scare the hell out of our enemies based in Afghanistan and I suspect the current A-5s serving that part of the country, is going to be discontinued and sent to PAF Museum Karachi.

PAF starts JF-17 Thunder production

KAMRA: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has started assembling of the first Pakistani-built JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft.

Chief of the air staff, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman inaugurated the construction in a ceremony at Kamra. Top military and civilian officials of Pakistan and China attended the ceremony.

This success will enhance Pakistan’s air power in the region and at international scale, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said. He praised the Chinese cooperation and said that the joint Sino-Pak project is a living example of the cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan and China signed an agreement for the production of 42 JF-17 fighters, which are expected to form the backbone of Pakistani aerial combat fleet in coming years.

The Pakistan Air Force has so far received eight JF-17 jets from China that are being used for testing and evaluation. The PAF plans to raise its first squadron of JF-17 jets by the end of this year.

Excellent news. Pakistan needs to ensure that the production is rapid, so the old frames of PAF can be retired/replaced while using Thunders and Falcons to protect Pakistani skies.

Do you realize how much of a boost it will give to the nation when Pakistan starts selling these jets to other nations which are tired of Western gimmicks and string-attached transactions?

Yes, many schools could have been built and should be built. The money that is spent on maintaining a luxurious lifestyle for el Presidente and his overseas accounts should be frozen or brought back to the country, i'm sure he won't mind serving the nation as goes the slogan.

But expanding and strengthening defensive measures is just as important, and under current circumstances the more the merrier.

Pakistan can not produce a single cylinder engine for scooter or motorcycle. And you wanna f@art about exporting a modern Jet fighter?

How come you forgot that China produces this plane by buying/borrowing parts from other countries such as Ruskies.

Pakistan gets the Chinese-KITS and ASSEMBLES the basic frame of the plane.

So anyone who wants to BUY the plane has to go to the source! aka China or even China's source! Russia.

p.s. why are we some people so ignorant of the technical prowess or limitations of Pakistan?

Pakistan CAN export this fighter to interested nations. It is a joint venture of Sino-Pak, and the purpose was to co-produce a jet that both nations can benefit from on the homefront as well as sell it to others who want a less expensive alternative to European and American warcrafts. China has also produce J-10 and J-10B, which Pakistan is most likely to acquire but will not be able to export because it was a solo project for China.

Please read the article and surf for more information on this. It's out there. JF-17 Thunder is to be in first stages assembled, then produced within Pakistan.

You still didn't refute what you were saying, so Pakistan cannot export it to other nations then? :) Any credible source for what you're saying, or your own assumption?

Azer link says they are negotiating with Pakistan to buy “Chinese made JF-17”.

There is no link for Zimbabwe that references Pakistani-made JF-17.

The link for Egypt, BDesh etc is to some sino defense website that talks about these “brother countries” buying “Chinese variant FC-1”.

So yes do your homework and yes I do want more info.

There is a lot of information on military aviation sites and it all points to your information being correct.

The Engines are Russian, yes, but thats it. Pakistan has made 50 percent of the monetary investment and the deal is that 60-80 percent of the manufacturing will be done in Pakistan before 2015. The project is behind schedule so it might take a couple of years more. Pakistan is actively courting buyers including the countries that you listed. They have finally decided on the radar system which one of the reasons for the delay. Russia has given a re-export license on their engines in spite of Indian objections. Along with our superiority in missile technology we will also be the first country in south Asia to reach this level of expertise in fighter plane manufacturing in a few years.

Malakand is almost clear, Fazlullah is dead or injured & the army is on the move in Waziristan. Things are looking good :slight_smile: Once everything else is done and settled, then we can make a iskootor as well :wink:
