SALAM, ALL. I found several websites. This is a simple short chart with some
facts about Jews under Muslim rule, here at:

BUT, here is a better website, which, interestingly, is at an Israeli
website. It says here that Jews flourished under Islamic rule. (it is at the
bottom of the email)

For your information, the website mentions that Jews were treated as
“DHIMMI,” which means that in the Khilafah (Islamic State), non-Muslim
citizens are called “Dhimmi,” meaning that:

  1. they have a right to live in the Khilafah, and are a part of the
    community. they are allowed to practice their religion freely. they are
    allowed to build churches and synagogues and temples.

  2. they must pay the Jizyah tax, whereas Muslims pay Zakat. however, Dhimmi
    WOMEN do not have to pay any taxes.

  3. Dhimmi are to be protected by the Khaleefah. I cannot recall the hadith,
    but the Prophet Muhammad expressed his dislike of anyone who violates his
    Dhimmi’s rights, which means that Dhimmi have a right to be protected by the
    Mujahids (Muslim soldiers).

  4. Dhimmi are allowed to partake in Jihad, but I do not know much of this.

  5. Dhimmi are allowed to hold public offices, but CANNOT hold any
    Islamic-religious positions such as in the Majlis ash Shura, or the
    Khalifate.

and lastly, a group of Jews came to the Prophet Muhammad and asked him of
what to do with a Jewish girl and a jewish man they caught committing
adultery (or zina? forgive me i cannot recall). the Prophet told the Jews to
refer to their religious texts (read: TORAH) of how to punish the Jewish
wrong-doers. Hence in the Khilafah, Dhimmi are allowed to conduct their
religious courts against wrong-doers.
