Police in Paris have arrested a man in connection with a fire at a Jewish community centre that was initially assumed to be an anti-Semitic attack.

French media report that the suspect is a Jewish man who worked there.

The centre was daubed with swastikas and set alight a week ago, prompting renewed pledges by French authorities to defeat anti-Semitism and racism.

**In July, a French woman falsely claimed she had been the victim of vicious anti-Semitic assault.

Condemnation

Police sources have told the French news agency AFP that the person detained is a 50-year-old Jewish man who sometimes worked as a guard at the centre, but who management wanted to sack.

He was “more or less homeless” and “mentally unstable”, they said.

Police are said to no longer be treating the arson as an anti-Semitic attack.

Swastikas and anti-Jewish slogans were scrawled on the walls of the community centre in east Paris before it was set ablaze on the night of 21 August.

The assumption that the fire had been an anti-Semitic attack led French leaders to speak out strongly and declare war on racism.

The visiting Israeli Foreign Minister, Silvan Shalom, toured the site a couple of days after the fire, condemning the attack but praising French efforts to curb a rise in anti-Semitism in the country.

Lied

Anti-Semitic acts have more than doubled in France in the first seven months of this year compared with 2003.

From January to July, there were 160 incidents - the corresponding period the year before saw 75 such acts.

Sensitivity over the issue was heightened last month when a 23-year-old woman said she had been attacked by a gang of Arab and African men who mistook her for a Jew. News of the alleged attack caused a national outcry.

It is unfair to judge a whole community based on the actions of a few.

Can say what you like it does'nt bother me one bit,

But back to the topic this is clear indication of how Jewish organisations can manipulate situations like this and claim Europe is anti semitic, not only is this a hypocritical claim because the palestinians are semetic people and they get more abuse and racism from the Israeli occupiers than anyone else can imagine. Also there has been history of anti semitic claims from jewish people which are dubious to say the least not to say there is no jewish attacks but the pro israeli politicians would have little or no work without these claims and incidents!

What's really suspicious is that at a time when Sharon is trying to persuade French Jews that they are unsafe in France, 2 events occur that have no precedence.

a) A (non-Jewish) woman with a baby claims that she had been targetted by youths mistaking her for a Jew and commiting vile anti-Jewish acts against her. It later turns out that she made up the whole incident.

b) A Jewish charity soup kitchen burns down in what looks like a truly despicabl act of anti-Jewish sentiment. It later turns out the perpetrator is a Jew himself.

It almost looks as though someone is trying to make France seem anti-Jewish, through manufacturing incidents. Purely coincidentally, of course, this plays right into the hands of the Israeli government's new found plan of trying to get French jews to leave France for Israel.

I wonder who actually carried out, say, the descration of Jewish graves a few months ago in France ...

So you find nothing odd about the fact that when the Israeli government is trying to make France seem anti-semetic, serious anti-semetic attacks start occuring only to be found to be manufactured incidents without precedent?

I'm not proposing that there is any grand global Jewish Conspiracy. I'm proposing that Mossad could be running an operation there, passing cash to people to carry out such acts to drive increased immigration to Israel.

France is the largest Jewish population outside of Israel and french Jews would make a vital contribution towards Israel's efforts to fend off the ticking demographic timebomb. The only problem is: french Jews feel safe in france.

So this latest case you're suggesting Moassad paid off the employer of the suspected arsonist to give him grief and then went to the employee and paid him off to torch his place of employment that he was already upset with?

^ not just in France this is a trend that is happening all over Europe and Jewish community will eventually be labelled as crying wolf all time if they carry on making non exisitent claims of anti semitism just to gain politcal mileage!
