Jewelry....shopping.

Re: Jewelry....shopping.

While not all Indian jewelers are good here in the US, the big, reputable ones have gorgeous jewelry that is ahead of what Pakistan has. And I say that with experience. You can't go to any ragtag shop, but there are two or three shops in both LA and Jackson Heights that have really pretty sets. For example, tourmaline sets and refined kundun sets were introduced here two years before anyone is Pakistan got them. Of course, you pay more here, but you also get guarantees and warranties.

But that being said, I bought my main wedding set from Pakistan because it's easier to customize things there, the variety for weddings sets is greater and the cost is less. But I did get several smaller sets from here as well (I like the design of smaller sets from here as opposed to Pakistan). Same goes with bracelets: bought one set from there, one set from here. It depends on your taste and budget. Just go to the reputable jewelers in Pakistan and you should be happy (and no, sua bazaar is not a good place to go get your gold).

As far as diamond earrings go, get them from here, from a jeweler like Bhindis, that is, if you care about quality and certification. They have a great selection and they carry certified diamonds.

Re: Jewelry…shopping.

if you want diamond, why not just buy it at tiffany’s? why limit yourself to only desi stores?

Re: Jewelry…shopping.

Tiffany’s is so expensive…i was looking for something small not too fancy just to satisfy myself and get it…I wanted something less than $500 for earrings or a necklace pendent…then when i get a job then maybe tiffany’s would be a nice choice…do u know if tiffany’s personalizes to each persons needs and will make me something to my requirements??? Anyone ever bought from there before?

Re: Jewelry…shopping.

hmm if u r looking somrthing upto $500 then “Sears” might be a good choice… sometimes on 50% u can find “good” ring or pendent from $300 to $500 (set in 10k) but not a certified stuff but just… cause tiffany , lord and tylors are so expensive they sell a 10$ worth thingh for 35$ on even on their specials (got my point?)

Re: Jewelry....shopping.

don't buy diamond jewellery at sears. their diamonds are yellowish, and not clear and white like a more high end store, like tiffany's or even in Pakistan. My mum bought a ring, and when she took it back to pakistan, the jeweller was like this is bad. i mean we can't fix it, but we can polish the top so it looks like it is a clear diamond.

Re: Jewelry....shopping.

i wouldn't buy diamonds at sears or mervyns the only place i would consider is macy and nordstroms apart from high end jewelers......i might just try the PK idea or I might just get diamonds from tiffany's when I get a job....:D

Re: Jewelry…shopping.

True !!! no doubt !!! but whether u r buying it from Sears, tiffany or anyother store in range between 300$ to 500$ thats the only option for diamonds or even saphire, ruby or whatever stone u like.. i mean "raised or lab created " (thats why they are yellow or actually not so refined) :hehe: for the “real thing”
(Certified one) you have to spend atleast $3000 for the smallest chunk:hehe: best Option buy it from Pk or Middle East!!! :hehe:

Re: Jewelry…shopping.

Great!!! but again watch out for “unnchi dookan pheeka pakwan” .. cuz these stores don’t give any gurentee either.. (their “mall” comes from east asia (thiland , china etc. ) or from latin america) so all they can do is give u 30 to 60 day money back gurantee (depends on their return or exchange policy and time period) :hehe: so good luck…

But also give a shot to Pk or ME!!!

Re: Jewelry…shopping.
