What jewelry would you buy for $1000-1500 US dollars (1 lakh rupees)???
It has to be real gold and stones (diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire etc). No semiprecious stuff like amethyst or turquoise and no silver. And it does not have to be a set. It can just be a ring, or a pair of earrings.

You can get a ring with a small diamond set in it. Or a gold band with tiny diamonds set in it within that
You could get a simple bangle as well with zircon in it.

Yes I know, gold is crazy these days...but a ring or earrings should not have too much gold in terms of weight....

^ I got some sets made within one tola of gold by enhancing the spread and beautifying with small stones. Earrings and a necklace. Within a lac.
Ring can be done. Earring too.

^ hhrm... how small though? because i remember shopping for my sil in karachi 2 summers ago when gold wasn't as pricey as it is now (if i remember correctly) and her set was roughly 1.75 with semi-precious stones because the 1 lakh ones with real stones were literally just a pendant on a chain and top-style earrings from the more reputable stores on tariq road (naurattan, for eg.). for anything even remotely decent and "bridal" with real gems, it was easily at the 3 lakh mark plus.
the idea of getting one with "spread" is good because it does offer more bang for your buck.
mind you, we hadn't got a tola of gold or anything- we were looking at already made sets. roughly how much did you pay for making charges and the stones, demesne, if you don't mind my asking? were they real gems or semis?

that would be awesome, demesne, but you don't have to :) i wasn't asking for evidence, just wondering how you managed it in 1 lakh! thats extremely well done. maybe you could post your jeweller's info here instead? it would be awesome to go to someone who's already done this several times and can do it again. my cousin is getting married in march iA, i'd love to send it to her.
