Jewelery in Karachi

Anyone have recommendations for nice jewelery shops in karachi? I’m looking for places with unique sets like polki!

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

Chhotani at the Forum<-- beautiful amazing jewelry including polki!

Tanishq at Gulf.

There's a jeweler across the street from the Forum, forgot the name, but has exquisite pieces.

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

woohoo i passed 1k posts!

Almas has some gorgeous designs these days..and Jawahir..very pretty uncut stones/kundan and polki jewellery!

Is it Ar-Raheem Jewellers per chance?

Chhotanis are my inlaws' family jewelers so most likely, they will be making a couple of my sets. Our family jewelers are New Era and even though I would prefer them, I am now confused about who to go to for my wedding set. Did you have a good experience with chhotanis? I am a bit worried after Chanda told me their gold is mixed at times.

it's called naurattan. Amazing jewelry.

There are 5-6 different chhotani stores in khi and are owned by different people. If they are getting the jewelry from the ones at the forum, that's awesome! I didn't buy any jewelry from them. There was one set I wanted in particular but there markup was horrendous and ofciurse they were also lying about the set I wanted. It had pink and green enamel on gold, and kundun all over it. It was very heavy even though it was very small. The guy kept persisting that it's all gold which is impossible because all kundun sets have "lakh" in them which is just a worthless metal to make the jewelry strong enough to support kundun. So I didn't get it but their jewelry is AMAZING!

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

^Thanks so much! I don't know which chhotanis it is, I'll ask.
In my mom's family, all the brides get one nauratan ka set. Since my mom was the oldest, she got the first and the biggest, most gorgeous one. Aaah, and it got those beautiful semi jhumka type earrings. I told her if she doesn't give it to me, I atleast want to wear it once either at or after my wedding.

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

shay..if you are planning on buying polki jewelery..get it from india or indian jewelers..i wouldnt recommend buying kundan/polki from pakistan...they dont give you all the specs..and its not guaranteed...plus..i have been to 3 chotanis..and their gold is significantly lower in quality compared to other pakistani jewelers...indians are no doubt the best..especially hyderabad/jaipur....i really want to go there myself..Inshallah next year :)

Ruby jewelers in lahore have been my family jewelers (on both sides) since early 50s..and my cousin who recently got married inherited her mother's jewelery..which was from Ruby Jewelers...it looks good as new..the gold is in perfect condition!! and some of the sets were over 40 years old!! but from what I saw..their prices are very high..compared to Sonica/Butt/Waseem..and others....

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

Yeh I agree if someone wants polki get it from India but obviously don't go there for just one set. Jaipur styled jewelry is to die for!

Naurattan is the name of the jewelry store, across the street from the forum. They have amazing jewelry including polki and diamond jewelry. If u go to khi shay, u must go there!

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

@fasadi, try naurattan across from the forum they had very unique sets there that I didn't see anywhere else. The designs and craftmanship are just remarkable!

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

Im not going for a while but now Im tempted to fly there tomorrow just to shop!!!
Does anyone have websites or pictures of jewelry from Udaipur?

^ Fasaadi if u can, get jewellery from Bhopal..they have the BEST kundan/polki sets!

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

My experience with the Chhotani's branch at the Forum wasn't exactly good. We bought my bhaabi's set from them last year and they tried to rip us off!

We basically reserved the set and initially we put a small deposit towards the balance so that they could keep it aside for us. This was just a few days before we were flying back to London. We specifically agreed that we would pay the remaining balance in 3 months when we returned to Pakistan. They said we could do this by sending 3 monthly installments to them or to pay one lump sum on collection.

Knowing gold prices fluctuate, we got them to agree the final price for the set at the time we placed the deposit. They said the remaining balance wouldn't change as long as we paid it off in those 3 months.

OK, so we get to pakistan 3 months later with the remaing sum and they go 'Oh, you'll need to pay 40,000 rps extra' for the set. They came up with some silly story that the set they had shown us was for someone else and that they had to make a replica set, for which they had to purchase more gold at a higher price. Well we went all guns blazin with some family who were locals and had to force them to hand it over and they did!

Mahismart, that's a good list of jewellers.

Can anybody advise about shops for purchasing diamond set in karachi. Are these available in khi and is it ok to purchase diamond sets from pakistan?

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

^if u want diamond sets I would suggest getting them from India, they r properly graded so u know exactly what ur getting. I wouldn't trust any paki jeweler with diamonds. But chhotanis at the forum has and naurattan across the street have good diamond sets. But u can read about zigs bad experience with them right above.

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

@ziggy, it was probably not someone elses but while u were gone someone else probably bought it in full so they figuredthey would make a new one for u. And during the time u were gone, gold prices probably went up, three months is a long time for any jeweler to keep things and not increase the price if the prices go up ( ofciurse they won't decrease it if it goes down).

I'm glad u got the set at the agreed upon price! People there can be so unprofessional.

Re: Jewelery in Karachi

^ our thought's exactly! We reckoned they had probably shown the set to someone else while we were away and sold it to them. They were being really unprofessional and you don't really want to end up fighting over something that had already been agreed upon previously. They seemed to be caught unaware that they had given us a receipt with the remaining balance clearly written on it...
