Jesus was married?

Jesus had a wife, say scientists, as ancient papyrus scroll verified - Americas - World - The Independent

What are your thoughts on this?

Does anyone know the Islamic position on it?

Re: Jesus was married?

According to one of the Scholars I listen to (Muzaffar Shah Hussein I think), Prophet Isa (Jesus) Alaihis Salam was not married, and thus Isaiees were not given the Sunnah of Marriage

Re: Jesus was married?

Not mentioned in Quran. Can’t say about ahadees, but Muslim scholars have a view that he was not married. The controversy created by the book and movie ‘the Da Vinci Code’ also attracted reaction in Muslim world.

Muslims and the Da Vinci Code

Would have been extremely unusual for him to not be married at his age. Maybe he wanted the wife to cook or something...

Re: Jesus was married?

So according to the article this new found piece of information is supposed to shed light on whether ideal mode of life was a celibate one? Really? :/

Why don't they consider the prophets before Jesus....did all of them avoid marriage? Adam, Moses, Abraham, Noah, Zachariya, Lot, Job, etc. These prophets were married, some had more than one wife. Did any of them ban marriage or give the impression that it's "less" ideal to be married and "more ideal" to be celibate? And if it's supposed to shed light on whether celibate....as in sexually abstinent...was ideal, then isn't there a consistency on sex without marriage being a sin?

I dunno...for some reason it doesn't bother me if Jesus (AS) had a wife or not. What I find more interesting is that there is no evidence that Hazrat Yusuf (AS) married Zulaikha....some scholars say he didn't...but there are people who insist it did happen without references. What I find strange is why use the name Zulaikha for your daughters when in Islamic history it's associated with lust and infidelity, treachery.
