Muslims at that times dealt with imposters as per requirements of Islam to clear the fitnah of their times.
I dare you to say the Hz. Abu Bakr (ra) got it wrong!! ( the way he dealt with apostates).
And the Muslims following them followed their example to clear the fitnahs in their own times themselves.
Sir you have only quoted 4 but I can assure you that there were many more. All of them met a bad end. Allah does not protect or prolongs the life of imposters. However on other hand he subhanawatalah does protect the rightous.
