Jesus Christ!

I had this neighbor when I was a kid - this little old Christian lady. She would invite me over to keep her company often, and I’d go over and play puzzles or card games with the old woman. Haha. Marie. I remember Marie.

So one day, me being the oddball 4 yr old (I had not started school for sure when this happened), I remember exclaiming “Jesus Christ!” one day in her kitchen. No clue where I got that from, but I watched a lot of McGuyver, so maybe I got my potty mouth from there. Or Perfect Strangers. Balki.

But anyhoo, she told me she should clean my mouth out with soap and scolded me to never take the Lord’s name in vain, and I had no clue what she was talking about.

So, for muslims, is it ok to use these phrase? Furthermore, we say “Ya Allah” all the time, and for conservative Christians, saying “God!” is wrong, because again, taking the Lord’s name in vain, etc. I remember asking this question in Islamic school many years later, and the aunties gave me a blank look and then told me I shouldn’t cuss out God, and even though I explained I wasn’t cussing anyone out, just using an exclamation God! or Jesus Christ!, they nodded and said that probably isn’t right.

Re: Jesus Christ!

I don’t recall McGuyver saying Jesus Christ. Hahaha Balki was awesome. Doubt it was him, his reference was the Island of Mepos.

Maybe it’s just me, but I find it weird when Muslims say Jeez or Jesus Christ. It’s like Mithun speaking like a surfer…or Rajnikant sporting a name like Pierre. Ducks to let the tamaatar hurling begin.

Re: Jesus Christ!

^ Please don’t take the Lord’s name in vain.

Re: Jesus Christ!

And when is saying Lord’s name not in vain?

Well of course he wouldn’t, don’t be ridiculous

Re: Jesus Christ!

Balki is sacred around here…careful what you say about him.

Re: Jesus Christ!

I agree what RV said.

Re: Jesus Christ!

No I don’t. Still cant get over her referring to the Big R on a first name basis.
