LONDON (Reuters) - Jermaine Jackson said on Monday he wants his brother Michael to convert to Islam; and he believes the reclusive superstar has given it serious thought.
“Michael, I feel, needs to become a Muslim because I think it’s a great protection for him from all the things that he’s been attacked with, which are false,” said the former Jackson Five singer who now lives in Bahrain.

Jackson said he believed his brother had given conversion “serious thought” during long spells in Bahrain.
“I was the reason why he had gone there because I wanted him to get out of America and just go somewhere it’s peaceful and quiet and people pray five times a day which is beautiful.”

He has said he plans to move to Europe in a bid to resurrect his musical career as the “King of Pop” and has indicated he will release a new album in 2007.
Jermaine Jackson said his faith helped keep him sane in the enclosed confines of the British reality TV program where the contestants are kept cooped up under 24-hour surveillance.
“If I didn’t have Allah and my prayer rug, I would not have survived and the reason why is because it kept me focused, it kept me calm,” he said.

If he wants to become muslim, what does anybody elses opinion matter?
It is just a shame , that when we have a likeable muslim on tv, the media always downplay that he is a muslim. If Jermaine Jackson turned out to be a crazy guy, you know every day they would be saying Wacko Muslim Jacko and alike.

if someone wants his salvation and wants to improve his life and Islam is the path for him, why is it an issue? Is our faith so weak that insults due to someone like MJ embracing Islam would shake it?
The correct response in my view would have been someothing along teh lines of that we hope he is doing it for the right reasons, and that if he does proceed, we hope that he finds his way and gets his life and afterlife in order.

i dont understand where is everybody going off and having an opinion about who should convert to islam and who shouldnt…its something so personal. Surat Abbassa was revealed when the Prophet saw himself didnt give more importance to a blind man who was interested in converting to Islam and instead gave priority to a man of wealth/influence, ofcourse with intention that it would make muslims in a stronger position if influential ppl understood and then converted. Allah sbwt then revealed that it isnt for you to decide, that is a decisioin Allah knows best and understands far more than we ever will.

I find that generally muslims are very happy when others accpet islam. Michael Jackson should be allowed to accept islam. He will introduce a breakdance form of flailing. currently which looks horrendous..and of course he will sing 'Da ya remeber the time..:D oo ee kichpuch oo

In my opinion those who are intolerant and discriminative of who should and shouldn't be 'allowed' to accept Islam, tarnish it's image far more...
no one has the right to stop him, but if he converts to Islam, islam would further be protrayed in western media as a religon of terorists, and religion of baby dangling child molesters like michael jackson.

I think that Islam has only benefited from western media protraying it wrong. There are more people than ever before searching for what Islam really is and some of them even realizing how that is the only true path.
I think if he converts which he has every right to, it would benefit us even more. More people might take it on themselves to learn about Islam and inshAllah get guidence.
