I was planning to make strawberry delight…but it uses gelatin in it for settling it down and i dont have gelatin with me at home. Is there any way that i can use strawberry jelly instead?
Thanx in advance! ![]()
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
the only thing with using jelly would be that you would have to reduce the amount of sugar as jelly has some sugar too. My two cents...
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin…
Lusi , really ? I always thought there wasnt sugar in it
I always have to add a bit of sugar otherwise it turns out bland …
Angel, yeah strawberry Jelly should do fine , thats what i do when i am making mango mousse , I just add a little bit mango jelly and it helps give the mouse a good shape …
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
Desi jelly has some sugar in it. Maybe its bland because you are not using right amount of water???
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin…
Should i make the jelly like regular method…i.e…in boiling water and then add?

Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
^ gelatin is added in powdered form to desserts that require gelatin to set.
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
wot abt cheese cakes? some where it was mentioned u pour the jelly on the cheesecake but i ws wonderin how to do that itll b so messy plus if we pour on top then woudnt the jelly come on the sides of cheesecake too?
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
i think if you pipe cream cheese frosting to the top, and then fill the space in between with jelly, it would stay and set in the middle. Also, the jelly has to cool down a little before you pour it on the cheese cake.
Re: Jelly instead of gelatin...
ooops I missed seeing your comment Angel , I reckon you must have finished making and eating the dessert by now :( ....
Personally i havnt made alot of desserts using Jelly .. but the ones that i have made , I use a tiny bit of water to dissolve the jelly granules in first and then i add that to the dessert ... for it to set ....
