India desperately needs transit route to open its big market to energy-rich Central Asia,Afghanistan & Iran plus Gas Pipelines from Iran & Central Asia but this transit route key lies in Islamabad Pocket ...
There you go. Therefore he needs to come to Islamabad, sit on the a table and come clear on all outstanding Indo-Pak issues to get a deal out. Thrashing Pakistan in Kabul, Dakha and Dubai, withholding cricket series but holding NS' hands for a nice little stroll isn't the way to get the corridor. Who is he fooling? Unless the agenda is to just humiliate and embarrass NS, and his life life difficult in front of you know who.
Modi may distinguish his good "personal" links with Nawaz Family, but when it comes Pakistan the state, he sticks to India's national agenda and policy shift. Take Indo-Pak cricket series for example.
Besides, NS met Jindal family on while he was on an official visit to India? How many leaders sort out their business deals on official visits? I doubt Indian PM would ever stay behind to say hello to Mr Mansha on his personal estate.
Bad mouthing Pakistan a few hours earlier and than coming to Lahore, I am sure our PM didnt have the balls to raise the issue with him, in case his personal business in India gets affected.
reminds me of Bollywood movie title "love ke liye kuch bhi karega" just change love with corridor
anyway, Pakistani tu ghar ayee mehman k tawazu main koi kasar nahi chortey chahey mehman agley ghar main hameen galiaan he keyun na dai ker aaya ho on top of that
our PM's love for food is no secret so i am sure Modi Jee enjoyed the hospitality!
lol, they were looking like shar rukh and kajol! .hopefully modi jee liked lahroe dishes!
but yaar that being said there are no "private visits" among pakistan and india. modi jee mama sala naheein lagta mian sahib ka that he will come for a private visit. he will face the music of his media and opposition parties when he will go back, so it was a calculated move and islamabad was avoided for a reason.
everything is calculated in indian pak politics. there is so much animosity between both countries plus after spewing so much venom against pakistan in last few months, modi needed some symbolic gestures before indulging into some bilateral dialogue and this visit was for that purpose. "stop over" was obviously planned on modi's request that way. instead of coming to islamabad where "stop over" would have taken more political color, it was designed to be more of a fun tour and no one was expecting for one second for any material thing to come out of this visit.
ghairatmand brigade in pakistan is going bonkers on media for no reason lol. in the end Pakistan has nothing to lose. Modi requested to come and we entertained him. allah allah khair nsallah. pressure is on india. they are requesting these meetings and indian media is so confused for their PM becmong so soft lol
Sajjan Jindal was already present in Lahore Flatteis Hotel on 25th Dec morning as a part of backdoor diplomacy so he played a major role in this meeting. Jindal Group of India is $18 billion conglomerate and Jindal Steel is India’s 2nd largest steel mill and wanted access to Afghanistan Iron Ore Project of $11 bn. So if they want access, they have to sit down first and resolve all issues including Kashmir. Why you have any objection if Steel Business Magnate of India wanted a transit route access to Afghanistan via Pakistan and in this regard invited a former Steel Magnate of Pakistan (Nawaz Sharif) to his house in Dehli over Tea.

Is Asia's another biggest steel magnate Hussain Nawaz also a former steel magnate who is present in every business meeting with Jinadals and China?
Pakistan's steel mill is in ruins but Sharif mafia's personal steel business is thriving. Pakistanis aren't aware enough to recognise such costly conflict of interests and kick these oligarchs out.
If so called back door diplomacy was so important then why didn't India allow the cricket diplomacy? No it's all about steel diplomacy - the ultimate jugular vein of Sharif family.
Modi, Ambani, Mittalas and Jindals are not stupid. They know Sharif's family's weaknesses very well, they will lure their personal business interests, and try to strike deals with with them so they can do the dirty work of getting the route approved through backdoor diplomacy without talking on issues such as Kashmir, water, Afghanistan and Siachen.
Let's not pretend Sharif family has any interest or spine to talk about these issues for sake of Pakistan, we all know which group in the country won't let India get the route without resolving at least one of the mentioned issues. So thank God for Pakistan Army.
India is so proud and confident of their Prime Minister's complete and utter lack of personal business interests that they know if he's riding on the back of steel magnate, it is simply for sake of his country's vested interests which for Pakistan sadly only equals Sharif family's personal interests.
Oh really ! here is website of hussain nawaz steel company based in Jeddah. The "Asia’s Biggest Steel Magnate’ company total employees are **385 **and production capacity is **100K-500K tons/yr. **I think Badami Bagh Lhr small steel units like Mughal Steel etc 've 10 times more production than hussain nawaz peanut unit ! Moreover Ittefaq Foundary in Kot Lakhpat LHR is already closed since 1994..

Three times Prime Minister of Pakistan who started Pak missile program by dealing with Chinese & Korean and made Pak nuclear power despite 5 phone calls from US President Clinton in 1998 now needs your certificate to prove their loyalty to Pakistan ! buht ala
This move is a step in right direction. The 3 min talk in Paris when Mr. Modi came up to Mr. Sharif proved important. Mr. Sharif has always been keen on resuming dialogue process. This is evident from his presence in swearing-in ceremony of Modi govt and Sharif-Vajpayee talks. The present initiatives are very much positive but sadly some such initiatives were followed by unfortunate incidents. If history is any guide, Delhi-Lahore bus initiative by Mr. Vajpayee was followed by Kargil infiltration & Parliament attack, cricket match when Mr. Singh
When Mr. Singh invited Mr. Musharraf to restart talks was followed by Mumbai blasts. Both the leaders must be aware of this and intiate dialogue process with due smartness so that the 'Third Umpire' may not show his ugly face this time. The present visit is criticised in both the countries and the leaders have outlined structure of upcoming talks. Critics will criticise every peace and diplomatic talk but leaders should go on.

Aww. Bechara Hussain Nawaz, ghareeb Aadmi, just like his poor father and uncle, none of their palaces are owned by them. I bet I earn more than them.

When it suits your agenda, cry about powerful military and establishment controlling and doing everything, but when it doesn't, all good ideas were NS' brainwave. Whatever. 5 phone calls or 50, had NS tried to mess up Pakistan's nuclear test at that moment, the Army would have put his ass on the missile and pressed the release button. Don't give him any undue credit.
If NS is so loyal to Pakistan, tell your "ex steel magnet" to put Pakistan's steel mill on track instead of expanding his family business empire. Why does his industrialist son accompany him on official visits?
After bhutto, the civilians haven't had much control over the nuclear program. The credit for 1998 goes to the guts of Bhutto no matter how much I dislike the guy for other issues.
I just read an article in today's The Hindu by Mehmal Sarfraz. A good article. Mr. Sharif from the election day itself expressed his desire to pick up peace process from where he left off in 1990. Main opposition parties welcomed Mr. Modi's visit. Whereas Mr. Modi tried to gain votes on anti-Pakistan tirade in general election and tried the same in Bihar election. He should understand that he must have to stop this inorder to improve situation.
yes, you are right. Mr. Vajpayee did not enjoy that much seats in LS still took bold steps despite reservations from angry old half-pants. Let’s see Mr. Modi can do. I doubt his foreign policy he changes decisions very often.
