Jealousy

Re: Jealousy

Sometimes yes.

Re: Jealousy

Jealousy is a normal part of human nature and that within itself isn't horrible. What is horrible is expressing it. Here's something that may help to cure jealousy- compliment that attribute...see a prettier person, tell her she's pretty mA. See a smarter person, admire it and tell her.

Re: Jealousy

Re: Jealousy

Yes men are human :hehe: but don’t know about the hurting each other out of jealousy part, I haven’t seen that happen much.

Re: Jealousy

one way to get rid of jealousy is to do something that is opposite of being jealous: make dua'a for the person that Allah swt give them more and ease their difficulties. :)

trust me, it'll help you with the jealousy PLUS there's a hadith that says when you make dua'a for someone else, the angels are making that same dua'a for you :)

Re: Jealousy

^ does it hold only for jealousy or other thins also like hate, anger, disgust??

Re: Jealousy

if you think about it, yes it does. A teacher of mine once told me "When it comes to matters of the heart, if you want a solution for something, do the opposite of it."

Also, jealousy can be the cause of anger, hate and disgust.

However, if the anger or hate is rooted from a personal encounter with that person, try to forgive this person sincerely. Remember that our Rabb is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful and we should also try to practice those attributes. If we are picky with who we want to forgive, remember that Allah has every right to be picky with us. We do want His forgiveness right? Allah na karey He decides to be picky with us. What will happen then?

Another thing to help the hate feelings is to remember that everything we do is only and only for the sake of Allah and our whole purpose of being here in this world is to make Him happy. That should be our first and foremost priority so automatically, that should empty out the hatred from our hearts.

Re: Jealousy

There was a time when i had trained myself not to feel jealous at all and appreciate things. Then I stood for head girl in my school, and one of my teachers said if you want to win you need to have jealousy inside you and I fell for it. I really looked up to that teacher but I shouldn't have listened to him that one time.
I get jealous when I see someone has a good car, and when someone gets better grades (khud parhti sharti nain hun bus jalti hun).

Re: Jealousy

honestly, i don’t feel jealous of people that have it better than me. i envy them and admire them but i don’t put all my time and effort into being jealous.

i just see that i need to try harder to achieve all that too.

if it’s another woman that has something that i’m envious of, i would be truly happy for her

oh come on yaar, men would step all over each other to get that management position. ok not all men just like not all women would do underhanded things to another woman.

no it’s not based on gender more like a person’s personality and if they are callous enough to hurt somebody close in order to get a guy/girl, a better position at work, or whatever that’s causing the jealousy.

Re: Jealousy

So did you become headgirl or was that jealousy all for nothing? That was a stupid piece of advice btw, it doesn’t even make sense :S. I do get jealous with cars :hehe: but I didn’t need to be jealous of grades most of the time :hooray:

Re: Jealousy

no i lost...
he said be jealous in order to feel the competition... harna tou tha he, it just hurt more that way

Re: Jealousy

Lol. Anyway, acha hi hua, in our school the headboy/girl were usually those who were the most stuck up ass kissers instead of being actual student reps. At least you didn't get hated by the masses :p

Re: Jealousy

actually… i was hated by the masses… cuz the school administration made me student councilor after that, so i was in the selected party rather than the elected party. Upon that I was made the discipline in charge sighs
Oh yes the head-boy/girl were such stuck ups - esp that headgirl :snooty:

Re: Jealousy

yeah lol.. the ‘selected’ people were always hated. The head boy was elected but the nominees were usually shortlisted by the admin so they were always those stuck up ones. The reason these people stood up for election was not out of sheer goodwill to serve the student population, it was simply because being a head boy/girl or part of the student council would look good on their college applications. I would have stood up with good intentions but I changed schools and no one knew me well enough to vote for me.
