Is a pretty interesting thing because I think all of us, at one point or another, end up on both sides (being envied and being (rightfully or wrongfully) accused of being jealous).
How do you know when someone is truly jealous as opposed to genuinely giving u advice that u dont want to hear?
Have u ever been accused of being jealous of somebody and you think it’s a completely ridiculous accusation?
Using myself as an example, there’s one person that people close to me say is jealous of me and I really cant see why. I’m not putting myself down but when I compare myself, I just dont see that person should be jealous of me.
I can't stand when people use their envy as a justification of being mean.
e.g mean random person in family...' oh shes just jeaous of you' NO! Do not use that as an excuse.
That really effs me off.
As for why people are jealous....everyone has the capacity to want more or things that they do not have.
Being accused of being envious when all you are really doing is trying to protect a friend...well I think we've all been there havnt we. Sooner or later the truth comes out and most of the time, its very sad as the warning you gave them...came true.
i think am a very jealous person :(..i dunno wat to do abt it...i dunno whether it shud be called jealousy or possessiveness...coz i cant share my frnds and other close relations with anyone else...:(

You begin by realising that these people whom you compare your life with also have things that they want and they also compare their lives with others.
Nobody has everything. Life wouldnt be worth living if you always had whatever you wanted all the time and never had to work for things.

Look for a pattern. If the person frequently displays a discouraging attitude, I'd be wary of their intentions. For example, they don't congratulate you on various situations (new home, graduation, new baby, new job, etc). This is especially true if you happen to share the joyous news with them and they say nothing or brush it off. Also look for frequent nit-picking and condescending criticism. "Oh I'm surprised you'd wear an outfit like that." Another indication is defensive comments such as "Oh, so you're showing off" "Yeah you have the money to afford anything and everything." Another example is, "So you're trying to outdo me eh?" You had no idea there was a competition going on. And that's because such a comment is a reflection that the other person is insecure and always competing.
Yes, all of us have been accused of being jealous of someone to our faces or behind our backs.
You might personally think that you're not attractive enough or successful enough or even rich enough. But maybe the other person sees something enviable. It could be your personality or ability to make friends easily or your successful marriage or home life. Or they live in a constant state of insecurity and are jealous of anybody and everybody.
Oh and another thing. We like to be validated. It makes us feel good when someone agrees with us. And when someone disagrees with us, we can get defensive and accuse the other person of being jealous. Your friend tells you that Kareena Kapoor is the hottest woman alive. You sincerely disagree. She says "you're jealous." Bla bla bla. So trivial.
